Our private tour guide Scott Ninnis brought us here because we love red wines and we weren't disappointed. All very delicious. Bob was a wonderful host. While we felt all of McLaren Vale was beautiful, the view from here is gorgeous.

It was a very hot day and this was the last winery on our tour. The staff could sense this and gave us all an ice cold bottle of water and insisted that we stay indoors and adjusted the airconditioning accordingly. The views over their property were stunning. The wines were very good especially the variety of the red wine

Great wines too. A family run vineyard for more than a century this is a McLaren Vale stalwart. The Hillside Shiraz is top quality and worth buying but I liked the 500 ml bottle of Tawny which is a reminder that a lot of McLaren Vale ended up as fortified in the past. Bring a picnic on a nice day as the grounds are lovely. We went to the Grenache Day structured tasting run by Colin Kay and featuring a vertical tasting of eight non-consecutive basket pressed Grenache - excellent.

We visited Kay Bros Amery during a McLaren Vale wine tasting trip in January of 2014, and it was our final stop for the day.We enjoyed the Hillside shiraz, bought a bottle on the day, and have since bought a number of older vintages a auction, which have proven to be stellar wines. On the day of our visit, veteran winemaker Colin Kay, who has since retired, was behind the counter, serving and relating stories from his many years in the industry. Indeed, he is a pioneer in the Australian wine industry. It is always a pleasure to have someone of his esteem who is humble enough to provide counter service (not the sort of activity I'd expect of a winemaker), and generous enough to relate his many years of experience and knowledge. He has probably forgotten more about wine than most people have ever known.Kay Bros Amery is worth a visit, and the Hillside shiraz is a wine well worth buying, at a very reasonable (even cheap for the high grade of wine) price.

Not only do these people have the most delicious wines....especially the cab/merlot & Tawny port, they also have THE most stunning views! Really lovely staff too.

I'm not a great fan of their wines (just my pallet I guess) but for old school hospitality it's a must. The cellar manager Bob was helpful with advice and recommendations which added to our stay in The Vale. The cellar door is cosy and positioned high above the vines. Go there you won't be disappointed. Thanks Kay Brothers.

I normally do not drink much white wine, but the Sauvignon Blanc we tasted here was really good. It is something I would gladly sip on a warm summer day and to accompany a seafood meal. However, the reds, across the board, were too tannic overpowering the fruit and leaving the mouth very dry.

We recently went for a tasting at the cellar door here. The view you get as you walk round to the cellar door from the car park is stunning. There were quite a few great tasting wines to try but what made the experience so good was the staff. Relaxed and chatty, as if they had all day to tell you about their wine. They got some old pictures out to give a bit of the history of the winery as we were having a taste. Overall, a great experience and should definitely be on the list if heading to check out some wineries in the McLaren Vale.

My husband and I went here last weekend and the two people at the tasting desk were lovely. Very friendly and accommodating even though they were quite busy at the time. They apologised a couple of times because they had to go and serve other people which was a lovely gesture. The wines were very nice, especially the cab merlot and I'm not a Cabernet fan at all. Also, try the muscat, it was a pleasant surprise.

A great place if you don't know much about wine. Really friendly, genuine lady who had loads of information for us. A beautiful setting too!

Visited on a quiet Friday morning with my wife. Old McLaren Vale winery with an interesting family history and some top notch wines. Love these big reds they have nose, colour and great depth. The cellar door staff are very knowledgeable and helpful and the views across the valley add to the treat. We have now consumed the purchases so time for another visit.

The location with views over the vineyards to the ranges is breathtaking. The cellar door exudes rustic charm. The cellar door staff are attentive and sociable and often you get to meet Colin Kay who is an icon of the McLaren Vale Region and super friendly and has an amazing memory of places all over the world that he has visited in the course of promoting the wines he has made. The wines, many from old vines on the property surrounding the cellar door, are lovely and approachable. The fortifieds are amazing. Try for yourself and I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

One of the oldest wineries in South Australia. Beautiful location with views over the valley. Naturally great wines and brought some home with us.

We called in at 10.30am on a Thursday before Easter for a tasting, great place to visit, low key and didn't feel rushed. Served by young guy with a depth of knowledge about the history of the Kay Brothers Amery Vineyard, their wines and the wine industry in general. loved their Shiraz wines, and the Grand Liqueur Muscat fortified wine. tasting is in an old building, some vines on the property are 121 years old. located on the top of the hill with a sweeping driveway and views out to the coast.
