If you like gambling then this should be an okay place for you. I would suggest many other sources of great entertainment available in Thunder Bay. Check them out, you won't lose a mortgage payment either!
My husband nd I visited thunderbay, Ontario. Stopped in the casino. Food was great...service was great nd friendly staff. I will definitely go again
too many people just watching you and just there for the coffee. don't like to have people standing behind you watching .. only casino where I have seen people do that .. and my visit was not in 2013, it was quite a while before that .. I have heard most recently from friends who had been this summer, that they won't go back because of the riff raff . Casino never should have been part of the downtown ..
I have never been to an exclusively non smoking casino and it was great. I hate to leave casinos reeking with smoke. For newcomers, they have a good promotion that involves free vouchers to gamble which is always nice. If it is your birthday month and if you stay at Valhalla, there are more vouchers. We did not eat at the casino. We found all the staff to be very friendly and helpful.
some staff appeared friendly but a male with a beard and suit - apparently some kind of manager - spoke abruptly and patronizingly with us.
The food was excellent, service good and it wasn't as noisy as I remembered from years past. Clean and friendly.
Nothing special....lots of slots....very few winners.....a few card tables and a poker pit....we go every once in a while but mostly for the food and not the gambling
Nice Casino. Good size and good selection of slots for the far north. Left with a little more money than I arrived with.
My first visit to a casino. The lady at the desk was very helpful in explaining how everything worked. We got $20 in casino money to start off. I'm not a gambler so it wasn't that big of a deal for me but my mom liked it!
This was smoke free and the staff were always ready to help. They had a variety of different machines from 1 cent all the way up to 25 cent. They probably have higher but that is what we did.
Lots of penny machines here. Ask the hotel where you are staying for "Stay and Play" coupons. We each received one for $10.00 and then when we signed up for their player's card, we received and additional $10.00 each, plus 4 decks of cards and a 15% discount in the cafe. We played on our "free" $40.00 for 3 hours and walked out with $260.00.
This Casino is very small and not everything your would normally see in a Casino. It is a Casino that is trying to act like a big Casino. I say spend your money elsewere.
Because we stayed at the Econo Lodge, we got a hotel package with $10 free slot play, 15% off food and a free gift. We didn't win big but we had a bit of fun after a long day!
I was a patron of the Thunder Bay Casino since its' opening 10 years ago, and have seen a steady gaming decline in this venue. The restaurant, although small and with limited privacy, is surprisingly quite good, rating high normal for both staff and food. The floor staff is efficient and friendly. Other aspects are not so good. At any time there are as many loiterers as actual patrons.Where casinos design and play music to suit the clientel, the most horrible and unintelligable screeching emenates usually from Thunder Bay's speakers. There are only 2 casinos in the immediate area -Thunder Bay, and Grand Portage 35 miles away in the U.S.. Each year the local newspaper sets a survey of all businesses in the area and each year the Grand Portage casino wins hands down as the best casino. That should be a hint.
Payouts are less and less frequent than at the Grand Portage casino just over the U.S. border 40 minutes away. Clean, free parking and smoke-free atmosphere
