Really enjoyed the production of Wizard of Oz thie evening, March 14, 2015. The whole production from acting, singing, dancing and sets. Dorothy, played by AJ Bridel, a local girl was brilliant. The children and young dancers acquitted themselves very well also. This is a new theatre operated by the Drayton entertainment folks. We were in the second last row, but still felt like we were very much right where the action was happening. Really comfortable seating.
GREAT area to visit. Dunfield Theatre great plays. Lots to do in the area - St. Jacobs Farmers market, Mennonite country, shopping in quaint shops in St. Jocobs, Centre In The Square, Kitchener, Walter Bean trail for hiking and biking, the beautiful Grand River, top rated golf courses, University of Waterloo, Wilfred Laurier university, Oktoberfest and many more attractions.
I have attended tow shows at this theatre. They where excellent. The acoustics system top notch. Very comfortable seating. The sets where ingenious (Mary Poppins). Intermission snacks more than adequate.I would recommend Dunfield Theatre as professional as they come.
great play , good sound and seats were comfortable. Not enough seating during the intermission Looking forward to Little Mermaid
This is a smaller city venue, but is new nicely appointed and comfortable. As has been mentioned, the location is great for children of all ages, and the shows that we have seen here have been excellent!
The building is fairly new. Pretty small, balconies were only 2 rows. Lay out was comfortable. Heated and air conditioned. Fun for all ages. In an awesome part of Cambridge where old buildings, great views and shopping is a small walk away!
Wow, Drayton Entertainment has built an absolutely perfect theatre. There isn't a bad seat in the house, acoustics are bang on, and sightlines are great. My wife and I saw Les Miserables there, and were blown away by the staging, music and acting. I saw the Toronto production several times, during the early 90's and it had left an indelible mark on me, but I have to say this performance was pretty darn close. The leads were very strong, although it's hard to top Michael Burgess. The gentleman playing Javert was exceptional. My only criticism is that the lobby is a little bland and exposed. Other than that, a perfect spot for live theatre.
I've seen at least a dozen Drayton productions but none finer than Les Mis @ the Dunfield Theatre in Cambridge.Comparisons to Toronto are odious. This theatre gives a much more intimate experience of the musical play perhaps because of the simplicity of the sets which do not become the focus.I was totally drawn into the story here.As for talent- I saw Pajama Game with Jonn Raitt and Fannie with Florence Henderson& Peter Ustinov on Broadway,King Lear with Christopher Plummer in Statford,Joseph with Donnie Osmond , Jersey Boys, Les Mis with Michael Burgess and Phantom with Colm Wilkinson all in Toronto and was never moved the way I was with David Rogers' interpretation of Jean Val Jean at the Dunfield theatre. He is one of only 2 Canadians to have played the Phantom and,in the Dunfield show "Broadway Heroes,"Rogers brought me to tears with his rendition of "Bring Him Home". As for the theatre, it IS small and intimate, the seats are comfortable with great sight lines. The sound is excellent- no problem deciphering every word . There is lots of free parking and you can visit the Stoneworks (which have undergone a nice renewal ) before or after the show. The majority will be driving and there are lots of good restaurants in town. To top off our great theatre experience,we won the 50/50 draw!
Great venue for a night out. you can order drinks for intermition befor the start of play or show so no waiting during short 20 min intermition
We found the Dunfield to be one of the better theatres for seating. There were no bad seats with the stage visible with no obstructions from pretty much everywhere. They also allow you to pr-order drinks so you don't have to get in line at intermission - your drinks are waiting for you when you enter the lobby - I really liked this system. All in all a great experience
We went to see Cinderella and were very pleased with the production. The ballet was well produced and very charming. The children in the audience were well entertained. Great entertainment value.
Love, love, love this little theatre. Season ticket holders since it opened. Needs more restaurants within walking distance but love it here anyway.
This is a brand new theater located in Cambridge, there is not a bad seat in the house, all seats are $40.00 per person, free parking, I have seen many, many shows there already and will be a regular patron, they have put on some amazing shows, with amazing talent, I have convinced many of my friends to try live theater for the first time and every single one of them has absolutely loved it. I usually sit front row balcony, amazing seats, can see so much more from up top, however after recently watching Les Miserables from up there I immediately went home and booked to see their final performance...it was that good!!!....and scored front row center tickets....so i called up my friends and family and booked almost the whole front row, we all enjoyed it thoroughly, wish it was still playing.there could be more disabled parking - that's the only negative.
We saw Les Mis here and I was so disappointed! The structure is cold and the theatre is typical. There are so many better theatre designs out there! I wonder about the acoustics as well, as it is a small theatre, yet all the actors used microphones. Also, there were many people on the patio at intermission, yet no garbages and no place for cigarette butts.
Easy parking and comfortable seats. Prices were modest compared to Toronto but don't expect the same calibre of acting, set designs or special effects.Nonetheless a great place for family theatre.
