huron county museum

Our family got a pass for both the museum and jail. It was a good value and took a good portion of the day to see everything. The kids really enjoyed the excellent display on the various storms and shipwrecks in the area. They also liked the old train and musical instruments. We plan on going again next summer and can't wait.

This museum is pretty amazing for a town the size of Goderich. Lots of local history here. The historic main street and train were a hit with the kids!

Huron County Museum is incredible. It has a very interesting layout, the streetscape is great. Displays set up to look like a store front on the street. A locomotive sits in the middle and if you are lucky they will let you blow the whistle. The exhibits showcase Huron County in its pioneer days. Being from Huron County I know a lot of the names of the contributors and I have some items there too! They have many programs for children and a great theatre Art exhibits are shown here too. Want to see a two headed calf, there is one here. Great display concerning the war and the counties part in it. Lots of farm equipment and tools used in farming over the years. Staff are very helpful. Clean and well kept. Check it out you will not be disappointed.

I have a bit of a love affair with museums.....as long as they are well put together. The Huron County Museum offers a variety of interesting exhibits presented in a fun way that is easy to follow, without seeming too stuffy or dull. Of particular interest are the hands on models which allow you to turn a crank, and the reproduction homes and main street. This is definitely a museum to which you could bring your children and they would be entertained.

There are some very interesting specimens in this collection that you won't see in other places. Two headed calves, children's coffins, naval artifacts.....great place to just browse. There is something here for everyone and it is obvious that these items have been collected over many many years.

This museum has beautifully curated exhibits and a really nice variety which appeal to different ages. The locomotive and taxidermied animals were a particular hit with our kids. The building is beautiful and I highly recommend as a way to spend an afternoon.

The Huron County Museum may be one of a kind, with a fascinating mix of collections, among them farm implements and heavy machinery, carriages and sleighs, a steam locomotive, military artifacts, a display on the great Lake Huron storm of November 9, 1913, quilts, and lots more. Children will love the calf with two heads. Strongly recommended, especially on a rainy day.

so much to see ! From storefronts to farm implements even horse drawn hearses and a steam locomotive. This place has it all. I spent close to 2 hours here, I'll be back for sure.

A lovely museum and interesting displays. Learned lots of local history and information about the Great Storm. A great place to browse and learn about the past.

The Huron Museum has so much history and so much to see. We were overwhelmed with how complete this museum is about the area. There is a self guided tour if you want to use it. the combined price for the Museum and The Goal is money well spent.

The Victorian Appartment is beautifully done; also the historic shop windows are very interesting. The museum gives a good insight into early life of the area.

Interesting indeed. Loved the 2nd story where they give all the uniforms of soldiers/generals/ legion memorabilia photos guns swords etc on display with models of airplanes too. Outside is a tank for pictures with cannons as well. Some weird animals in the display that the local taxidermist did from some 2 headed cows and other animals. Display windows show the history of the general store, the hair salon. There is a locomotive in full display on the main floor its actual size and you can ring the bell. Lots of old farm antiques and machinery. Can spend a few hours here

Every corner has an historical exhibit. Great experince in Goderich. Will recommend to friends and family.

Informative and pleasurable, Touches and or is very complete about the history of the town and county from the beginning to present day. Also houses work from local artists when we were there

This museum was more than we anticipated! Interactive, interesting and full of artifacts! Very well displayed. Our family learned so much about Huron County! Loved it!!
