Perfect hill for families with young kids. The hills are perfect for my 2boys (6 & 3). My wife and I had a blast skiing and boarding with our 2 boys. The adventure park was great, how can you go wrong gunning down a hill on an inner tube! Can't wait to hit the slopes at Horseshoe again.
Hill is nice, on the small side. Lots of lifts, attendants were kind. Well groomed and lit. Good value. Didn't spend any time inside so can't comment.
Great place to come to skate ski. Staff was friendly and answered all questions. Skate lanes were wide, flat and very well groomed. Good variety of trails from flat and fast to lung bursting hills. Had a great day and will be back.
I was extremely impressed with the response and the co-operation of Ryan and Joel from the ski patrol department of untiredly helping me find my daughter's misplaced ski up on the nightmare hill after she had lost balance and didnt have the strength to pull out her ski that went deep into the snow. They saved us a lot of inconvenience and cost of going and buying another pair of skis for her ski lesson the very next day.I'm extremely impressed and thankful for them.
Love the nordic skiing here - great trails, friendly staff, great instructors, good quality rental gear. A hidden gem. Spacious clubhouse for both packed and bought lunches.
This is a great place to ski! Staff were very friendly, prices were reasonable, and the chalet was very nice. There were runs suitable for all levels of ability. Evan in the pro shop was very helpful as well. I would recommend this resort for anyone looking for a good time on the slopes!
There are a million reasons to come here, in any season. We've been to the Adventure Park in the summer. Loads of fun for all ages, with ziplining, mini golf and lots more to do. There are a couple of first-rate restaurants as well. In the winter, the skiing is great. They seem to get more snow than anyone else, it is small enough that it feels intimate, and is great for younger kids. The slopes are really well-maintained. The kids' programs are amazing. We stay often at the inn on site, which has a spa, and pool/hot tub. Even our dog is welcome! We love Horseshoe. So will you :)
We loved our stay at the Horseshoe Resort. We usually go to Blue Mountain but this is our new place to ski. The staff at the front desk were amazing and very patient for how busy it was. Ivan is amazing, so friendly and personable. Our room was comfortable and clean, we do not spend a lot of time in the room when we ski but were The only issue we had was trying to find certain things in the resort. Clearly marked signs are needed. But we went into the Crazy Horse restaurant to ask for directions and the manager Mike actually brought us to guest services so we could get our passes. We went back for dinner and he remembered us and seemed to genuinely care about our experience. We told him it was our first time at the resort and that we usually go to Blue Mountain, and he welcomed us here and bought my husband's and my drink. Very nice of him. The food was delicious and our server Matt was wonderful. The kids loved him. We wished we could have stayed longer than two nights but we now have a new skiing retreat.Great work and we look forward to returning.
Positive- 1 hour drive to gta, easy access from highway- good variety of runs for family- kids ski lessons at "kids korral"pretty good, except on occasion - see below- lifts seem reliable, and there are many- discount tickets available at CostcoNeeds addressing:- washrooms are in short supply and only in one location, the main lodge- and the hand-dryers in the women's washroom have been out of order for at least 3 years- so make sure to tuck an extra pair of mitts in your pocket - there is no where to dry yours if they get damp -there is a real need for a washrooms near the south runs by chairs 5/6 , imagine skiing on these runs with a child that needs to get to a bathroom fast - it is a long way back to the lodge or over to the adventure centre with a child in ski boots- likewise, there is a need for a warming hut of some kind near lifts 5/6 for the same reason- parking lot is a mess due to construction of new condos, which will result in parking much farther from the hill- coffee shop and beaver tails outlets close too early - both were closed at 4pm last Saturday, leaving the second floor cafeteria as the only option (not as convenient for a quick hot chocolate)- kids lessons are great unless they try to cut costs and collapse classes for different ski levels together, the higher level kids will be bored - also not enough staff to ride with very small kids on the lifts.
I've never stayed at the resort, but have skied here quite a few times. The skiing is not exciting for good skiers, but sometimes you can find a few little jumps on one side of the hill, which is kind of fun. But it's a good place for learners. But there is also snow-tubing, night skiing and cross-country skiing or snow-shoeing across the road and during the Fall I've been to the adventure park for the tree climbing and zip-lining, which was lots of fun. So at least there is a good variety here.If it's just downhill skiing you're looking for, I would recommend other spots in the area.
Took a day to exercise away the demons from the holidays! Driving into the resort was easy, close to major highway (400). Reception area is large, lots of room to get your ski rentals if needed, the staff at the customer service friendly and knowledgeable. Ski runs are a mix, and some for every level. Tube park is awesome, good staff to look after you, lots of amenities in the adventure park, for all seasons. Lots of fun. Restaurant we used was the crazy horse. Lots of choice, mostly pub grub. Friendly service. Great place to unwind. They have a hotel, conference centre for use.
My husband & I did a one night get-away. We enjoyed the night skiing at Horseshoe. Dinner was wonderful at Silks. And fat biking with Ride Guides was awesome.
It had been years since our family could coordinate a Christmas trip and this past Dec 23-26th, 2014 finally allowed for all of us, in our busy lives, to meet up and ski/snowboard. The resort was like we remembered it from many years ago when the kids were smaller. The service was efficient, courteous and the food was great. We stayed 'slope side' which was very convenient on the first floor for unloading vehicle with all of our Christmas bags (including a mini tree loll) The condo was dated but we created our own ambiance. The bathrooms were older but clean. The kitchen was very 80's but everything we needed was there and working well. Washer and dryer were super convenient for our stay. Shout out to Ivan, Front Desk Manager, who cared for our debit card that was lost and took care of our teenagers who returned a few days later to ski on their own after great memories from our Family Christmas. I had to combine work/pleasure and Ivan made sure I had a place at the main building for my conference calls requiring WiFi. All in all, the time was great, the lifts were NOT crowded, Crazy Horse restaurant staff always pleasant at a resort could use a facelift but our 'go with the flow' family had a great Christmas.
Make sure to get all the details when purchasing packages and passes...they really try to rip you off. Not a lot of safe options for first time skiers. ..nobody even suggested we get a lesson...nearly broke my back!...other than that it was a great experience
it is tired and needs serious over hall ... the restaurants are tired and the food is tired.. the hotel is done but not well
