This place has nice blue pretty waters! You take a boat tour around the island then get dropped off for a hour at monkey island to go swimming in a hour then get picked up then you pay the guy! Best views and you get to see villas and the water near where you get on the boat has an area where you can jump off the tree into the water and that water is cold and hot same time

Its amazing, but you either need to take a boat out with a local or just go for a swim without taking valuables etc. As you walk down the road, people might tell you there is an entrance fee. There isnt. You can go and swim for free which is what we did. This place is not really set up for tourists. There is no place to sunbath or relax, just a track from the road with a few souvenir vendors before a little wooden quay where the few boats are moored. You can enter the lagoon from there.

Really great but the locals will try and tell you that you cant go down there with out buying a boat ride or raft ride. We rented a kayak and paddled to Monkey island and around the bay and then sunned ourselves on the kayak in the lagoon. It was a wonderful day.

TIP: Before booking your flight to jamaica, make sure to check the weather forecast. You don't want to be there when they have tropical showers. It's a beautiful place no doubt (on a sunny day), but it looks nothing close to the movie or even what you see on the touristic pictures. It's nice, but didn't make me 'wow'. Living in Cayman, I can't say it was better than any beach in Cayman. Plus it seemed a bit dirty. The road to the Blue Lagoon is terrible...in general roads in Jamaica are terrible, so if you rent a car, be CAREFUL. The road is full of HUGE holes, and be even more careful during the rain. The whole might be covered with water and you will discover the whole after a loud sound and a flat tire. The best thing to do is take the tour buses or taxis (pretty cheap), don't give yourself a headache with renting a car...Anyways, back to the Blue Lagoon, there are hotels where you can stay. I advise to visit it If: 1)you are a big fan of the movie;2)you want to explore more of Jamaica and have nothing else left on your list; You can go there and just spend time on the beach without any entrance fee. Could have been a romantic place for couples if not for the hotels around and locals trying to sell something :)As far as I know you can rent a boat and go for a little excursion, but because it was raining we couldn't really explore this option. It's not close to Ocho Rios or any other famous resorts, so I think it's only worth the visit if you are staying not far.

We swam and took one of the boats out and around Monkey Island. This was a lovely place. We swam across the Blue Lagoon. The boat ride cost us $40 U.S. but I am guessing we could have gotten it cheaper. It was definitely a fun day for us.

This time felt much less hassled and Harrassed - The Boat Trip was well worth it and whilst the guide was quiet he responded well to questions - Its a Beautiful Spot and a place of Interest - If you pass through - Stop and enjoy

lovely attractio9n if you want privacy rent one of the 5 bed villa they come with a butler and a housekeeper will set you back about 1200 usd a night though..but you can see what you are paying for peace and tranquility of if you wanna catch a glimpse of mariah carey or naiomi campbell this is where they hide away.

Maybe worth seeing one time and taking the boat trip around to view from the water, but once is enough. Whole place seemed tired and in need to freshening up.

I took my foreign visitors and the swim was really nice. Been there many times years ago. Improvements are there (no fish gutting seen anymore, boat ride, beach area across), but others should be implemented as well ( some chairs/benches, make something of the destroyed restaurant area, changing room, etc)

We visited the lagoon as part of the Rio grande river tour.It was a small clear lagoon which was a refreshing swim after the long journey to get here. You can also do the 10us dollar boat ride (approx 20 mins) around the logoon and beyond, whereby the guide shows you big houses owned and visited by the rich and famous. There are half a dozen craft stalls by the lagoon (be prepared to barter).Wotrth a stop say for 45 mins to an hour.

The Blue Lagoon is a beautiful place but some how not as good as we were expecting. When you arrive you are instantly confronted by people hassling you to buy a boat ride. There is a small platform that you can swim from, but most of the boats are attached there so it's awkward to get into the water. It would have been nice if there was more space to relax and just take in the scenery without instantly being moved on to somewhere else.Swimming in the water was beautiful, and a nice sensation with both the warm sea water and cool fresh water. Sadly I could see that the petrol from the boats is polluting the water. I really wish there was a strong effort to preserve the environment without the focus being solely on making money. We went on a boat ride to Monkey Island and San San beach, which was okay. We payed $15 each (for me and my boyfriend). Monkey island was quite romantic when it was just the two of us but we were only there minutes before loads of other tourists arrived. From then on it felt quite crowded.

i had a lovely swim in the Blue Lagoon, all alone in the deep waters surrounded by lush vegatation, but...There are no facilities, i had to change in the car and my friend, who didn't want to go for a swim, was lucky that our driver carried a plastic chair in his car, so she could at least have a seat. The restaurant which was destroyed during a hurricane in 2004 was never rebuilt. There is a bunch of dodgy locals hanging around and the smell of ganja was overwhelming. The place could be made a lot more attractive with a little bit of effort!

There are warm and cold patches every couple of feet, and it feels incredible. I really loved swimming out to the center, and just chilling in a nice cold spot of spring water, while my feet were tucked into a warm patch of ocean water. It really is unlike anywhere I've ever been before.

The location itself was tres cool, the water was very blue and it was nifty to know that this is where Brooke Shields filmed the movie of the same name. That being said at the top of the driveway there was guys ready to pounce with the hard sell on boat rides. Let's call the one we dealt with Gimmpy, we had agreed on $6000 Jam about $6US. . . when we got back he tried to charge us $60 US. Our boat ride consisted of a 3 minute ride to Monkey Island (Princess Nina's) Island and a pick up an hour and half later. Even our boat driver warned us that Gimmpy would try to screw us over. SO enjoy the spot but be very firm in your dealings with the local scam artists.

Rafting on the blue lagoon was amazing! It was so pretty and relaxing just please negotiate the pricing with the rafters. They claimed they charge $8,000 JAM per raft (up to 3 ppl per raft) but my friends went a couple of days before and I knew what they paid.
