They recently updated the facilities at this beach and it is fantastic. I usually ride my bike to the bike path on 6A and walk through the moors. I would not suggest this if you have mobility issues. Go a little further up and get on the bike path which will bring you directly to the beach.
We visited during the winter. We had the whole view to ourselves, watched the large ships going by, walked along the beach as long as we could before we got too cold. I'm not sure how packed it gets in the summer but am glad we saw it and had it all to ourselves.
Naturally, this is a great beach to visit during the warm weather time of year. Clean water (a little cool) but typically clean sand as most of the beaches are well maintained here.We just wanted to see the waves and enjoy a little peace & quiet before making the return trip home.
So convenient you can drive to the cove and park just steps away from the ocean.Awesome landscape pics for the taking including the race point lighthouse and beautiful sunsets... and you don't have to get out of the car to enjoy the views. Also this is a great place to have a 'to go' lunch from the Stop n Shop grocery store if you're a budget traveler.
The sand dunes here are not the largest around but does make for a nice change in scenery from the lush woods and surf beaches we've been seeing all week in Cape Cod. The beach was also less crowded than most of the other beaches we've been to in the area. Parking is $15 from mid-June. We took a shot drive around Province Lands Road, looping with Race Point Road, which brought us through picturesque sand dunes and other marine plants. Stop by the Province Lands Visitor Center for panoramic views of Herring Cove and Race Point beaches.
my fav. so many places to sit . so many different folks. 31 yrs and no changes. Thank God. Just please, visitors and angry "ladies' who bike here, (sorry, my observations...not yours), drive slow. We are all on vacation. So, if i go slow over speed bump, and you have an 'earth 'sticker' and 'be calm sticker', dont ride my cars bumper. I earned my peace after 30 yrs. and calm. I love this beach. and see whales, seals all time. And dont fish where we sit. Guys, in mobile homes, who fish, move down the beach. I almost got a hook in me many times. Awareness..............is key. thank you and I am blessed to visit there year after year................
Great to use the cycle trails to get there from Provincetown but there's a huge car park. Seals are regularly seen there too.
Herring cove is a narrower beach, but a beautiful place to walk in the off season or to gather with locals to enjoy the sunset. The drive there is even beautiful!
A perfect place to watch the sunset. Arrive early and proceed to the farthest parking area for a wonderful view of the sun going down. Watch the sea gulls drifting on the breeze. In the distance hou will see Race Point Lighthouse winking at you!
I heard the locals liked this one best and I have to agree. Beautiful views, nice walking area toward the lighthouse, waves were small, but could be time of year, comparable to Race Point.
We were here on a sunny day in October and the long wide beach was empty. The sky was a sparkling blue and we had a wonderful walk. Must be lovely in the summer too and for winter walks.
Visited the beach only in the evening for the sunset. Arrive early to get a good parking spot -- even in late September, there were dozens of vehicles parked along the shore -- but not too early: if you're there before 5, you have to pay to park.
We make certain to spend some time at this beach, even with all the other beaches in the area, Herring Cove is by far our favorite.Easy access, convenient parking, Carr waters that the ocean side beaches, and dog friendly. Spent a few hours there yesterday, enjoying the air and people watching. The sunsets are amazing. Wasn't warm enough this trip to venture into the water, but sometimes the water is still quite warm in October.
You are part of something when you go here to watch the sunset. Bring your blanket, your bttl of wine, your time to exhale
If you only have one beach to visit, this is it. The sand is beautiful, the breeze was refreshing, the water cold. Go early and get a prime parking spot and you could tailgate for the day.
