Philatelists (the fancy name for stamp and postal history collectors) are familiar with the Spellman Museum and frequent it often to purchase items for their collections in the Museum store, or to use the Museum's extensive reference library. In addition to the obvious, there's a lot for the whole family to enjoy. First, walking through the exhibit area, visitors will see historical stamp-related items from the Civil War, a powerful display of Zeppelin airmail covers and more. If you're interested any subject from architecture to zoology, there are stamps at the Museum that will interest you. And, attention parents...on school vacation weeks the Museum has special events for youngsters that include hands-on activities and the opportunity for them to prepare and send postcards to friends and family. And they always leave with a smile and free souvenir of their visit. Check the Museum website for hours and special events...www.spellman.org.

If you're a stamp collector it's wonderful to visit the oldest philatelic museum in the Americas, but there is a lot of interest for the non-collector as well. From Zeppelin mail to the Boston Post Road, from children's games of post office to a dress made of stamps, the opportunities are endless for visiting the world through postage stamps here.

We were in the area with little to do so we stopped in. I was surprised to learn that this museum is part of Regis College & named after Cardinal Spellman.Thankful that is was not just part of someone's basement we enjoyed the historic information & regaled by the curator with great, fun information.

Absolutely loved the Spellman museum. It shows you the highlights of world history through postal service, envelopes and stamps (a lot of them), it does it tastefully and patiently. Plan for a two hour visit. Great for pre-teens who can go on the "stamp hunt" and get prizes. Visit the gift shop - inexpensive, stamps for every collector. Easy drive, free parking, small entrance fee. Highly recommended.

We visited the Spellman during one of their family program days. The volunteers could not be more enthusiastic, and we ended up spending four hours in the museum. There are many activities for the kids including a well-paced scavenger hunt, crafts made from stamps, and the many rooms of interesting collections. Stamps are art and history and this is a lovely way to spend a weekend afternoon.
