Recently, my friend and I were tasked with planning a fun event for new hires at our at our company. Being young enough to be inexperienced at cooking, but old enough to appreciate quality food, we felt that a cooking class would be the perfect way to meet each other while developing some useful skills.Jess was such a warm and energetic host, and deftly took us through the process of making wonderful handmade pasta, salad, pork roast, and dessert. I imagine this was no easy feat, considering our lack of prior experience in the kitchen. She taught us a lot of useful tricks from basic knife skills to how to make the optimum pasta dough. The whole evening was a lot of fun, and we ended the night with a delicious homemade meal.I highly recommend it as a fun, creative night out for either a small personal or professional group.

My husband planned a private event at Shiso for my 30th birthday, and it was by far the best birthday yet! I've been to a number of cooking classes in the past and not only was this by far the best, it was most delicious! Jess did a wonderful job of catering to cooks of all levels and interests, designed an incredible italian meal to all of our tastes and truly provided a memorable, amazing experience that we all will never forget. I cannot wait to go back!! thank you JESS!

While visiting my daughter in Boston, we wanted to do something more fun and interactive than merely go out for dinner. She suggested a cooking class. The cooking class was a great idea - we had the benefit of eating out, not having to clean up, learning some new tips and tricks, learning new recipes, and getting to choose the menu, and in our case opt for healthy meets yummy. We went to Shiso kitchen which is run by the lovely Jess. We were warmly welcomed, and immediately felt at home. Everything from the space to the food to the play list to Jess's delightful personality set the stage for a very fun evening. Our choice for the menu was Asian with a healthy twist. Jess prepared a menu consisting of rice noodles with a soy / coconut sauce, shrimp marinated in lime juice, pork dumpling wrapped in cabbage and sugar plums on plum wine ice-cream. My sister is not a fan of coconut - no problem for Jess. She just modified the base and we had 2 sauces instead. Jess showed us how to prepare the base for all of the dishes and then modify it to make a dipping sauce, a sauce for the noodles and a marinade for the dumplings - brilliant. She also had some really cool gadgets that I know I will be buying soon. Overall the evening was so fun - like having a personal dinner party,in someone else's home. I loved it and cannot wait to go back. If I lived in Boston, this would be a regular outing for me. Lastly, the pricing was no more expensive than a dinner out - this would be a great date place, great for girls night out, or anything else that you can think of if you love food, cooking and eating :).

What a fun night we had with Jess! It was such a great change of pace from dining out in a restaurant and we learned so much! We cracked open some wine, had some fun music playing and Jess took us on fun, entertaining and informative adventure in her beautiful, cozy and super well equipped kitchen. No work involved - simply "playing in the kitchen" while learning new recipes and cooking tips. I took a ton of notes, not only on the tips related to our evening's recipes (Jess has well organized printed recipes to take home) but I wanted to write down the so many brilliant ideas she just mentioned in casual conversation. Jess is a sweetheart and as soon as we met her she made us feel immediately at home. My sister, niece and I had so much fun with her. Her venue is perfect for couples, friends, parties and so much more. Guaranteed fun and guaranteed new magical kitchen tricks and recipes to take away. Thanks Jess - can't wait to try some of the recipes at home and now I have "visions of sugarplums" dancing in my head! :)

Jess's classes are the perfect blend of informative and fun. She has an amazing energy and a wealth of knowledge to share. You'll always leave with new, unique tricks and recipes. The space is beautiful, just like you were hanging out in your friends kitchen. The classes are fun whether you're with friends or family, or even if you're alone and looking to meet new people! She keeps the classes small so there is plenty of hands-on learning and time to ask questions.

Just took a cooking class at this new and terrific kitchen. Jess is a motivating and energetic teacher. She is so excited to share her knowledge and expertise. As a widely traveled chef she brings all that experience to her new business. Would definitely encourage anyone to take a class with Jess and enjoy.
