olde magoun's saloon

We are so lucky to live right around the corner from Magoun saloon. Prior to Daddy Jones moving across the street (also great spot) it was the closest bar in our neck of Somerville without trekking it to Davis. They have an expansive beer selection, on tap and bottled, and are always bringing in new varieties. I can't express how thrilled I was to see that they had Wuerzburger Hofbrau on tap!! I lived in Wurzburg, Germany as a child for 4 years and this was their local brewery. I have never seen one of Wuerzburger's beers outside of Wurzburg and now I can drink it right around the corner in Boston. I also really enjoy their menu and their rotating, monthly Wednesday menus. It blows my mind that they are able to create so many delicious, creative dishes in their tiny kitchen. My only complaint is that food service can sometimes be slow (I'm sure due to the space they're working with) and they run out of the Wednesday menu items if you don't go early. Otherwise, one of Somerville's best pubs/restaurants. Definitely check it out!

I've been here for dinner and to watch the game. It was walking distance to my old place. They have a great selection of beers paired with an excellent array of food (wings and burgers are great). Get there early on Sunday during the fall where they have the NFL ticket!

Pleasantly surprised! We thought Olde Magoun's Saloon would be a burger and fries type of place. What a surprise! The food is craftily prepared in ways you would not expect. The menu is varied and always something to excite. The food is always made with the freshest ingredients. The selection of beer is endless and the Bloody Marys are excellent. The value is one of the best in the area. Always look forward to going back.
