awesome view of the surrounding areas. No other way around it if you are on I-65. nice view of the water and the bay area
We decided to take a roadtrip to Mobile last weekend. I love old bridges and architectural buildings. I couldn't resist the opportunity to see this bridge. It's a beautiful bridge and a must see.
Perhaps I am just jaded because I drive by it all of the time, or because I have been through bigger cities with greater examples of architecture. Worth seeing but forgettable.
Took it in both directions in january and enjoyed views of the surround country and delta. It is an engineering marvel and we finally could only think it was built from barges as a way to get through the swamp areas. Would be interested to know if that assumption is correct and visit it again in the spring.
The views are wonderful, as the passenger, from this bridge that is over 6 miles long. Had to chuckle regarding the Dolly Parton nickname.
Why review a bridge? It's a local landmark! The sign says Gen. WK Wilson Bridge, but to everyone down here it's the "Dolly Parton" Bridge. When you see it, you'll know it! The ONLY thing to see between Mobile and Montgomery, so enjoy it!
I had to adapt to the high part of the bridge. It's good after the "Dolly Pardon part". It's under construction right now, so I will be traveling through Bay Minette to go north.
This bridge spans the Mobile River on the west side of the delta. Nobody knows it as the General Wilson Bridge, but rather the "Dolly Parton Bridge", the reason for which will be obvious when approaching it from the west.
This bridge is a beautiful example of bridge architecture, and the view from the top is amazing. It is also known locally as "Dolly Parton Bridge," for reasons that will become obvious to anyone approaching it!
I like this bridge. The first time I went on this bridge several years ago, I was amazed about how long the bridge was, since I hadn't been on a bridge that long before. Now passing this bridge again. I really do enjoy the sites of the rivers and the arches. This bridge is also in a great spot, especially if you are going southbound. We all know there isn't much on I-65 between Mobile and Montgomery. But the bridge lets you know that you are getting close to Mobile. This is a great bridge. Hope you enjoy the ride, like I did.
