indian mound & museum

We were unable to get into the museum, so review is for outside area only. Historically interesting and the hike to the top of the mound is quite a hike. We will put on our stop back list to visit museum.

A bit difficult to locate, but worth the effort if you're interested in Native American artifacts and information. The mound overlooks the Port of Florence and is tucked away in an industrial area behind the Lauderdale Cty CoOp. The museum is small and is hidden by some shrubbery so we almost missed it. GPS has trouble finding the location, but set your GPS or ask the locals for directions to the CoOp and you'll find it.

The Indian Mound is not much to look at any more due to the commercial / industrial growth around it. However the Museum is well worth the visit.

If you have nowhere else to go and you want to go visit then I'd say give it a go look see otherwise I'd visit elsewhere.

The museum was very educational and very interesting. Highly recommend if in the area, and is not hard to find.

This is a favorite of local schools, and I've been several times with field trips. The mound is impressive. The museum is ok. They are building a new facility, so this may be worth another look, but once you've seen it there isn't much to go back for.

A lovely little visit and a really nice lady who took time to speak to my 9yo daughter and make her feel special. We are of Cheerokee heritage but now live in London UK so was nice to show my daughter her American Indian side of her family with visits like this. Charming.
