Had a good time. Used my expired groupon, seems AL liquor laws make it somewhat complicated, so I would suggest not letting it expire to avoid a little drama. But either way, they were accommodating and the atmosphere was nice. I really like it when a winery has a porch to sit on. You'd be surprised how many wineries I've visited that lack the outdoor space. The young lady working was very pleasant. She brought every taste to our table which is different from every other winery I've been to where you stand at the bar. Leave a tip! Tips are nice! :)
I bought a groupon for the tour and tasting for my husband's birthday. We had a great tour guide, Paige. She was very knowledgeable! We enjoyed tasting all the wines and had a snack, too, which was great. We bought several bottles and look forward to buying more of their wine in the future.
We had a Groupon and were sad to find out they were closed on a Thursday when we were planning to steal away from our busy lives and visit. My hubby called, and they said they were there preparing for the weekend ahead and would be happy to accommodate a wine tasting for us. We had the entire place to ourselves. They set us up on the patio, it was a beautiful spring day, and they even allowed us to have our dog sit beside us on the patio during our visit (although this is probably because we were the only customers there). Personally none of the wines struck me as terribly fantastic, but I still greatly enjoyed the visit and experience. Would gladly return just for the experience and atmosphere!
Went with a couple, we both had a groupon. Great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. The wine flight has ample tasting, includes a wine glass and you can add cheese, salami and pita chips for a nominal charge. Enjoyable outing not farm from home , the Alabama Wine Trail is not a bad trek. Come see what it is about for yourself !
I bought a Groupon to use at this winery as a day getaway for me and my wife. The winery building sits on top of a hill overlooking the vineyard. Excellent views and just a great relaxing place. The white wines are better than the reds. We also purchased a food tray. It was pita chips, cheese, a some type of meat. It was very good, but hardly worth the $16 we paid. The next time we come, I think I'll purchase a the train ride and lunch. That looked interesting......check it out.
We had a Groupon deal for a wine tasting for two. THe scenery was lovely and for the $12 price, it was a great little outing. If we were to visit again, we'd probably pack a little picnic of cheeses, fruit etc and purchase some wine and enjoy the atmosphere. They do have a few choices of things to eat but unfortunately, their presentation of the food was severely lacking. In fact, there was no "presentation" at all. They brought out a BAG of pretzels, a pre-packaged serving of meat of some sort and the cheese was something like Laughing Cow and it was still in its package.. NOTHING was opened or presented on a platter, they just put it on the table- unopened and with no utensils. Quite frankly, this shocked me because everything else is lovely. They are doing lots of good things, but this one thing could be improved easily with just a little bit of effort. They do offer a train tour, a tour of the winery but we did not do those activities.
The view from the patio is beautiful. The white wines were far better than the red. We left with a bottle of the Chilton County Peach! Overall, a very enjoyable experience!
They were out of some of the groupon goodies and had NO etched glasses for our group of 3, although a much larger group sitting next to us all got their glasses!! They were also out of several of the wines that were listed. And we bought the train ticket and because only one person was serving our small group and the large group, we only got through some of the wines before we had to walk down to catch the train. Then we had to go back up the hill after the train ride to finish our wine tasting. It is a lovely setting, but the groupon was $2 more than the first time I went and I got less..also no wine carrying bag like before and fewer snacks. Disappointed, to say the least. Probably won't go back.
Ozan is a little gem on the Alabama Wine Trail. I was a little skeptical to hear of it, then when my sister and I drove up, it was already growing on me! The building itself looks like a mediterranean villa on top of a hill. My sister had booked a wine-tasting online, but you can just drive there. There were tables on the inside and outside and both filled up quickly. The wines are quite tasty. Their new Cabernet is VERY nice. The dessert wines are not as sweet as you would expect, which is refreshing. I left with three bottles. Food was provided which included cheeses, crackers, pickled okra, olives among other things. They also offer a train excursion. We will definitely be back!
Had an opportunity to visit Ozan Winery this past weekend and I must say I was really disappointed. After driving such a distance to get there, I had high hopes and expectations of receiving great wine, service, etc. but that was not the case. When we arrived, there were only about 3 groups of people sitting at tables. We found a table for 2 in the shade which was great. However, once we served the cheese, chocalate, and crackers, the server did not return back to our table for more wine tastings. There was a young lady walking around with wine serving other customers but not us. After waiting about 15 mins or so, I had to get up and go inside to see what was going on. There was a man standing around at the cash register who asked me what I needed, and I told him that we were forgotten about and had only tasted a few wines. He then proceeded to ask me if I had a Groupon (now why would that matter) and I told him I did. He then asked the young lady to go back out to the patio to wait on us/customers. After waiting for several more minutes, we decided to leave. I expressed my frustration to the limited staff and they apologized and asked us to come back, but I'm thinking no. I enjoyed VIzzini Farms Winery MUCH BETTER!!
We were searching for things to do along our vacation route. Through our GPS, Ozan winery was listed. We drove to the easy to find location and were greeted by the owners. We sampled the wine and visited with the owners for quite a while. They have an awesome Norton wine. The location is beautiful and quietly tucked away. The vineyards were well kept. You can tell that these people know their wine and take pride in their business. If you are traveling down Interstate 64, make this one of your stops.
We had a Groupon (so did most of the other visitors) that gave us two glasses, wine tasting, fruit, cheese, crackers, wine tote and bottle opener. Service was great, even though they were very busy. We enjoyed the wine and bought many bottles( they let us drive up close to load)
Ozan Winery is a pretty location, especially in the spring and summer. The owners and staff are very friendly. Very relaxing atmosphere. They have fruit and crackers to go along with your wine tasting, but we usually take our own snacks when we go. My husband and I were told the last time we were there that they are expanding their indoor and outdoor seating areas. Also, the wine is very good. They have several different kinds; depending on your taste. Going to Ozan Winery was a very pleasant experience. Highly recommended!
Nice place to hang out and relax. Everyone in there, customers and employees alike, seemed so at ease I could feel the stress dripping away.
Beautiful location and very good wines but way understaffed . Our server was a young lady who just walked into the field and left us . After 30 minutes we got served again . Also the bathrooms were disgusting .
