A lot of time isn't required for a visit; one or two hours depending on your interest.Several artifacts, tools, etc. associated with drilling are on display, including a section of wooden pipe. I enjoyed the photographs documenting the early days of oil and gas exploration and production in the area. One of the first, if not the first offshore wells drilled anywhere was completed on nearby Caddo Lake in 1905.Before making the trip to Oil City, check to be sure the museum is open. Unless hours have changed, it is open Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
