Small but lovely park, divided into two areas. Friendly staff. Nice cabins for rent, single or large group. Has cypress and Spanish moss like Caddo Lake. Lake has been partially drained recently due to invasive plant species. Still a beautiful area.

We drove to LBSP strictly as a short outing, not to camp or fish, and the scenery and peaceful surroundings made the trip well worth it.To enter the park it's necessary to register at the entrance, which is a simple procedure thanks to the friendly personnel at the administrative office. Prices are reasonable: $2 per adult, and free for adults age 62 and above. Once inside the park the roads are paved and in good condition; the family sedan will navigate the park without a problem. Signage is sufficient so it's easy to find your way around.Scenery is green and watery, with lots of Spanish moss adorning the trees. Birds, squirrels and turtles abound. White tail deer are about, although you'll not see them during the middle of the day. There are walking and biking trails...bring your insect repellant if the weather is warm! There are equestrian trails available for those with horses...but a good idea to call ahead instead of just showing up pulling your trailer. There are no concessions within the park other than a soft drink machine at the administrative office, so if you'll be there long enough to want snacks or beverages pack your own...just be sure not to litter the grounds. There are restroom facilities in camping areasOthers have commented on the camping facilities and they are certainly abundant at LBSP, as well as comfortable cabins. But if you simply want a place to enjoy the semi-primitive scenery with the sounds of waterfowl, cicadas and an occasional fish slurping up an insect the park is still an enjoyable way to spend a few hours.

Great state park to visit! Cabins are very spacious and clean. Great staff at that park and awesome catfish in town at Kelly's.

For clarification, I am only rating the campground as it relates to RV and Trailer camping. No consideration is given for other aspects of a campground/park, such as swimming pools, clubhouses, or activities such as fishing or canoeing. Also, many campgrounds may have RV/TT sites that vary in quality. My assessment is base on what I perceive as the best they have to offer.I use a two part rating system. The first is based on the basic elements that most campgrounds provide. The value for each of the items is fixed. This puts all campground on the same level based on what they provide. The final rating is the basic number plus a factor of my assessment of campground maintenance, cleanliness and overall aesthetics. Occasionally, I will throw in a note to explain my evaluation. Most any campground can earn at least a basic 5.0 rating. For me an acceptable campground for a multiple night stay will have to have a final rating of 7.0 or above. Very few campgrounds will go over a 9.0 with 10 being the max. On Trip advisor a 6.5 to 7.0 is equivalent to 3 circles, four circles will be 7.5 to 8.0 and 5 circles are above will be 8.5 and above.Lake Bistineau Park CampgroundBasic evaluation: RV/Trailer Campsite review, (61) sites, Surface: Paved. They are a little tight on the back-in ease and some of the sites are short, If you have a long TT or RV, I suggest you call the park direct to make sure you get a site that can accommodate your camper. Electricity Hookup: all have 30 and 50 amp connection, Water Hookup: Yes, Sewer Hookup: No, Dump station: Yes, Grills/Fire Ring: Yes, Picnic Table: Yes, Comfort Station: Yes. Value = 6.0Secondary rating. Based on the good maintenance of the sites, good separation between sites, cleanliness of the comfort station, Laundry, campground wi-fi, and the overall value and appeal of park I added 2 points to the rating for an overall rating of 8.0 This would be my final rating but we arrived after dark. The park manger escorted us to the site, lighted it with his truck lights and help us back into the site. It was very cold and the help was very welcome. I am going to give the a bonus .5 points for the extra effort to take care of their campers. So, here is and 8.5, Trip Advisor 5 rated campground. This is a nice state park. We only stayed here for one night in Jan. 2014 (30 Ft. travel trailer). We were on our way home and trying to get there before a major snow storm. We will return for a longer visit at some point.

I left Ringgold, La after attending a funeral and traveling on Highway 157 toward Taylortown, La.. I came across the south edge of Lake Bistineau and stop at this bridge. Couple of men was pulling in their boat rig and appear to have a good day of fishing. Someone once told me- 'On rainy cloudy days are the best time to go fishing.' If I wasn't in a hurry to get back home, I wish I was 'dress' for fishing and find out for myself, if this ole saying was true.

Went to the 'lake' today and there is absolutely no water. All boat ramps are closed and there is tall grass growing where the lake once was. There is no reason to return.

We camped here recently. I was really looking forward to the trails as I had heard they were pretty. Apparently, a storm came through and took down some trees ( and hit the gatehouse). They brought in loggers who, while they were there took down logs on the trails. They did a hack job and left a lot of debris. All the way down both sides of the trails. Looks like a war zone! They won't recover in my lifetime. The campsites were large but the tables and firepits were in the area with the least amount of privacy. The river was pretty and some of the kids there were catching fish off the dockDisappointing.

The Pavillion is fabulous for our family reunion. We love the lake, the trees with the Spanish Moss flowing in the wind and the areas for the children to play. There are plenty picnic tables for food and eating. the breeze coming off of the lake usually keeps us very comfortable while we visit and catch up with each other. The toilets are always clean and well maintained. The park rangers are always making rounds and checking the area. I just wish the water was higher and the moss in the water would go away.

Very clean park with reasonable rates. Camping sites available for tent or RV and cabins also. Swimming and boating areas easy access and well maintained. Public restroom and showers average, could use a little upkeep.

My husband and I stayed in one of the cabins last fall with my son and a buddy of his. They played in the bouncy tent while we rode our mountain bike race and then we hung out in the cabin to watch the LSU game on our wide screen TV with Satellite. All the comforts of home... 1 queen bed in our BR and 2 bunk beds in the other BR. Full kitchen with microwave, fridge, oven with cooktop and all the dishes you need. Very clean.Great mountain bike trails... very beginner friendly but enough terrain / technical to give anyone a fun ride.

This summer was our first time to go to Lake Bistineau. We've liked it so much we've returned every weekend for a month. Great place to rent a john boat or kayak and go out on the lake. Just realize there is so much giant salvinia there. Great fishing though!
