west virginia veterans memorial

It's a powerful experience to see so many names of fallen soldiers engraved in the marble of this monument. During my visit, the monument was being renovated--and the orange power cords, ladders and empty pools definitely took away from my experience. There are a few free, non-metered parking spots very close to the space for visitors of the monument. Otherwise the metered visitor parking spaces take coins only...and it's 25 cents for 30 minutes for a maximum of four hours. The monument is located on the grounds of the State Capitol building.

This is one of the best memorials I have seen. And who would have expected it in WV. If you are in the area this is a must see. WV is unique- I sincerely hope they revive tourism in this state.

Located close to the WV State Capital this memorial is very well done. It's like a history capsule of WV's contributions to America's continuing struggle for Freedom. The details on the statutes are exceptional.

Tasteful presentation in recognition and remembrance of our fallen soldiers from many wars. Easy to access in Capitol grounds.

This memorial was very well thought out and instills a sense of pride when you walk through and read the names listed on the walls. I highly recommend stopping in and seeing this sight.

West Virginia did it right when they decided to honor their veterans!. The memorial is impressive from every angle and pays tribute to all the West Virginians who have served and especially to those who died. The memorial is located on the State Capitol grounds near the WV Cultural Center.

I grew up just outside DC and now live in Kentucky. I would expect to see the type of memorial that West Virginia has as something that might be in D.C. (just on a little grander scale). I did not expect to see something like it in West Virginia. Kentucky has some nice memorials too, but nothing like this that I've seen. Impressive job. A nice honor to those West Virginians who were lost in the 4 wars (WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam)

We were passing through Charleston and decided to stop to show our kids the capitol building. Pleasantly surprised to see the West Virginia Veterans Memorial. What an outstanding tribute to those who fought for our freedom! The statues representing the different wars had great detail and the names of those who died on the memorial reminds us of how many have died for our country, thus making the ultimate sacrifice.

Beautiful memorial! Stopped here for a brief moment after my son's eye appointment to let him see it. He absolutely loved it! I can't wait to return with the rest of my children!

The monument, found on the state capitol grounds, recognizes each conflict our military has served, one in which we find that a large percentage of WV soldiers have taken part to defend and protect our country. There is a statue representing each branch of the military, and most recently, a female soldier has been added to the complex so that this truly does honor ALL that serve.

This is a nice monument that show respect to our veternsfor their serving in the service. I recommend this to anyone thatserved or did not serve to show your appreciation to our Vets.

This is a wonderful tribute to all of the US service members. It is a well designed, touching memorial. Very clean and well maintained park.
