No better way to describe this experience than the motto they place on the wine bottles (and some wine glasses available for purchase). This is an absolutely beautiful winery. A beautiful outdoor seating area on the second floor overlooking the vineyard and a small pond is so delightful to sip a glass of wine and snack on whatever goodies you would purchase for yourself inside. there is also ample seating inside with luscious purple fabrics and warm wood surroundings. Windows inside facing the vineyard and the detail of the tasting room, in the descriptions of the wines, in the winemaking itself is so inviting. The sommeliers' are resourceful and creative in helping pair you with the best wines for your tastes. I thoroughly enjoyed every taste of wine I had here, but I also enjoyed it just to experience it, so plan to linger if you can.
This place is the best winery I've been to, even in Europe. They know what they are doing. Excellent wines, beautiful place with gorgeous views, helpful staff and a great store. I've taken guests back a couple of times, and can't wait until i can go back again. I highly recommend it.
I visited this winery many years ago before Cellardoor took over. Returned three years ago and what a wonderful surprise. The beautiful tasting room offers a friendly and well informed staff. While they do not yet have matured grapes on location, they import and blend here with a really good result. We always have lunch on the deck and enjoy a glass of wine with a gorgeous view. Maine wine?? Absolutely! This is now an annual stop.
we stopped by the winery while on a long weekend in the lincolnville area. We were welcomed by an exceptionally warm and knowledgeable staff and given a wine & food paring as well as more wine tastings! We were also treated to the best facility tour I've ever been a part of.Great time and cannot wait to returnThank you
The Cellar door boasts that they are Maine's largest winery, they certainly have the most beautiful tasting room and gift shop. Although their own grapes have not reached maturity they have created some fine wines using carefully selected imported grapes.
I drink a lot of good Californian wines and, to be frank, was not expecting much from a Maine winery. I was wrong. The wines, produced from imported grapes and blueberries, was different and excellent. We had six bottles shipped back to California ! Great old building as well.
Cruising around up the coast on a Saturday in the fall, we stopped at Bath (visited the Farmer's Market and strolled on Front Street), Camden ( Camden Deli for lunch , very good, and then strolled the shops and the waterfront) and then arrived at the Cellardoor Winery in Lincolnville, off the beaten path of route 1 by about 4 miles. It was wonderful. A great restored old barn with a wonderful view of their grape orchard and free wine sampling from very knowledgable staff. I was surprised how many other people were there. We got there around 3:30 and stayed about an hour. I highly recommend it. Bought a bottle of Prince Valiant, a favorite of all the wines we tasted.
This was the final stop of our fall wine tour in Maine and this place far exceeded our expectations. A gorgeous facility with spectacular mountainous views. I called one day prior to alert them that we were celebrating my girlfriend's 30th birthday and they were sure to personalize our tasting and make her feel very special. McKenzie and the staff were very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Thank you Cellardoor for making her weekend very special. Our group was extremely satisfied and we all plan on returning very soon!
We stopped here for a few hours to taste some of their wines and enjoy a glass on the back patio. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and we really liked getting to mix and match our own free 4 samples before getting a glass of our favorite to enjoy outside. Wish we had more like this back home.
Spent a couple of hours chatting with Scott. He really new his wines. Great afternoon drinking wineand eating cheese and crackers.
excellent wines, beautiful tasting room, food available for ourchase, a little pricey; you get 4 free wines to sample, for another 4 wines, you pay $6, pretty average for tastings. we bought the gouda cheese which was awesome, and some crackers. wines were very good.
Who even thought a winery could exist in Maine?? This is worth the trip and tour of the facility. The property is very "Napa Valley"ish and the staff is knowledgable and friendly. The buildings are a mix of historical and modern and the grounds are immaculate. I toured this facility with a group of women and absolutely fell in love with the place. Check out their website for daily tours and tasting. Maine wine!! I never knew!!
Cellardoor has a tasting room right at the junction of Rte. 90 and Rte. 1 in Rockport, but the Main Attraction is there vineyard, winery, and tasting/function facility in Lincolnville. It's off the beaten path but well worth the 10 minute trip from downtown Camden. Outstanding, knowledgeable staff will pour you through a flight of 4 glasses (free), featuring whites and reds utilizing grapes and juice from around the country, in addition to their cold-hardy varieties on site. Beautiful views from the tasting room, an interesting selection of gifts and wine paraphernalia won't let you get away without a purchase.
We've visited Cellardoor Winery several times and it is always a great experience. It's fun to sit at the bar for the wine sampling. The staff know their stuff and have always been exceedingly friendly and helpful. They offer free tours in the afternoon. We paid for a "VIP" tour that was fantastic. Make sure you bring a camera (even in the bathrooms)! We always leave with a couple of bottles of wine. It's fun to drink them and reminisce about the outstanding beauty of the grounds and the tasting room. Their new event center is the perfect place for a party or small wedding.Cellardoor is a great place, it's definitely worth a visit (or 2.)
Although we did not do the 2 pm tour, we enjoyed the tasting room. Every August we stop by to do a tasting of their award winning wines. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. It is worth the trip from Camden if you are not staying in Lincolnville.
