What a venue! Hilly at time, tight at times, wide open at times, greens that challenge anybodys game --- Im an 18 and I loved it!. Long enough for everyone, without being nonsenscial, and a beatuy to walk or drive. Play it --- you'll love it and the history markers along the way!

So glad I discovered this place last year. Played West Point 3 times this year and loved it each time. Don't let the 6000 yard from the back tees fool you. This is a challenge for any golfer. Course is in excellent condition, greens are fast but true (stay below the hole), and the scenery is just beautiful.Only 2 things keep this from being a 5 star review: The clubhouse is a bit small and out-dated, especially the bathroom and locker areas. Second, the pace of play is a problem. I've never seen so many bad golfers on one course. I can only assume many of these are cadets who are just learning the game and older vets/players who enjoy the course. If I lived within 30 minutes of this place, I'd play here every weekend.

Nice public course with great history lessons on each hole! Liked reading West Point history. Did not like the fact no bathroom along course.

A little pricey, suggest you look for a groupon to play. The course was in great shape considering it was August. A little hilly, but fun to play, even for a novice like myself.

I've played here many times over the years and the course itself is wonderful. Very challenging, scenic and well maintained. The only problem is that it's very crowded on weekends. If you're non-military, you can't make a tee time more than 3 days in advance, so usually later in the day is all that's left. If there's an outing of any kind, it really gets bogged down. Last time I was there it was easily a 3 ~ 5 minute wait between every shot. Just get's tedious and makes for a very un-enjoyable round of golf. Do go if you can get a good time, just be prepared to wait.

My husband has long wanted to play this course so we booked a 12:40 tee time on a Wednesday in May. The course was busy but not fully booked so we went out as a twosome. We would have really enjoyed the course of not for the swarm of bugs (my brother-in-law told me it's black fly season in the area) on nearly every tee box. For some reason the bugs weren't too bad on the fairways, but they were very bothersome on most tee boxes and several greens. But the course itself is very challenging. Almost every green is elevated and there are many blind shots to contend with. There's water to go over, deep bunkers, a few doglegs and some deep rough. This is a mountain course so it's very rare to find a flat fairway. There are great NY vistas and with so much recent rain the course was in good shape. One green was under repair but there was a sign alerting us to that fact. We would like to try the course again, probably in the fall. There should be fewer bugs (hopefully none) and amazing foliage. FYI, the course has a no-frills clubhouse with a large patio and good food. There's also a driving range, putting green and bunker practice area. Every hole has a granite slab with a rendering of the hole, as well as a synopsis of different conflicts and wars, starting with the Revolutionary War on one and ending with the Iraq War on 18.

We played a round at this beautiful course last summer. Pretty good course, wonderful service and not bad prices. We would return if we were in the area again.
