We have been traveling through Batavia to visit family for years. Oliver's has been a frequent stop. This time we came to Batavia to pick up extra wedding gown fabric (who knows where wedding prep will take you!) so we had plenty of time to spend in this pleasant city. Oliver's is a clean, bright candy store with a nice little ice cream shop in the back (only 2 tables). The candy is fresh and delicious. This time we got marzipan, cream mints, and gold coins (from the leprechaun!). The marzipan was gone before we reached Buffalo.During the winter season the ice cream shop sports 8 flavors. There will be 8 more, plus soft serve, come warmer weather. The ice cream is made for Oliver's.There is ample parking and clean, attractive rest rooms.
Oliver's has been a family favorite of ours for more than three decades. Each year we stop in Batavia on the way to grandma's home in Buffalo and stock up on Molly-Pops and other chocolate goodness.Staff is always friendly and the chocolate is always fresh!
They always have a great variety of chocolate to choose from. Also they have an ice cream parlor there! Who doesn't love chocolate?!?!?!A family favorite place to stop and grab a sweet treat to take with you!
I stop here every October ! There is so much to choose from, homemade candies, sometimes stuffed animal, ice cream. Everyone is very nice and very helpful. I bring something home for everyone in the family. They have the best sponge candy and truffles that I have every come across - and I have never passed on a chance to taste a truffle ! Oliver's is opened from like 9 am to 9 pm. So it's not one of those looks interesting but never opened shops. Totally worth taking the time to check it out !!
It's pricier than your standard off the shelf candy, but come on - You are not buying Hershey's off the shelf here. This is my new go to place for special occasions and Easter. Friendly staff and if they don't have it ask, because they can more than likely make it for you!
delicious homemade ice cream and chocolate. Lots of choices as to candy and chocolate. In season peach sundaes were made with fresh peaches and a lovely vanilla custard
I purchased a chocolate cowboy boot filled with nuts, a chocolate fish and a chocolate bear from Oliver's for Easter this year. Very good chocolate and fun with all the different shapes available in the store.
I was passing through Batavia today, and I just had to stop into this incredible store. Oliver's has been a landmark of this town for decades. They make and sell the best chocolates, candies of all kinds, box sets, truffles, and lots more. For people like me, they also produce some wonderful sugar-free varieties that taste almost like the full-carb varieties. Prices are moderate to high, but well-worth the price. Stop in, even if it just to breath the air! It's worth it!
When visiting Batavia recently, I was taken to Oliver's Candies. WOW! I've never ever seen so many and varied chocolate figures. And in milk, dark and white chocolate. And solid figures and hollow figures. Little ones and HUGE ones. And gift baskets. So many products and lovely staff to help you find what you need. So worth a visit!
Although we have our own very good local chocolatier (Malley’s), while traveling to Batavia a few days prior to Valentine’s Day I decided to give Oliver’s a try for a change. I found that Oliver’s has a large selection of different varieties so one can find just the right combination but prices were generally a couple of dollars higher than our local chocolatier. Service was wonderful with the workers helping me to navigate the large selection to quickly find just what I wanted. They also wrapped, at no additional cost, any unwrapped selections and they will arrange shipment at checkout if desired. I purchased a box each of chocolate covered nuts for my wife and a box of chocolate soft centers for my daughter, each their favorite type; and they were both delighted with their chocolates. Trying both, I personally preferred the local chocolate covered nut clusters over Oliver’s as the local variety has a greater portion of chocolate in the cluster versus the one large chocolate covered nut of Oliver’s. On the other hand, I preferred Oliver’s soft centers over the local chocolatier’s.
Oliver's has been a standard in this area..outstanding products. The prices are a little higher, but you get what you pay for. Chocolate is so good, and hundreds of varieties of molds at Easter. Very nice ice cream shop on the side of the building, as good as their candy. The owners have been major supporters of career education in the area by participating in our local Business Education Assn. I am not related to them nor friends, but I did work as a teacher and was given great support by the owner for job shadows, tours, etc.
If you like chocolate that is really good, Oliver's is a must stop. I routinely purchase their products for family and business gifts, and everyone always asks for more.
I have bought their Sponge Candy for years. There is no way to describe how good it is!! I especially like the dark chocolate ones, but they also have milk chocolate. You need to try this. They also have a large variety of other candies and ice cream. Easy to find.
