the blueberry patch

I'm probably going to kick myself for submitting a first review of this place and letting the cat out of the bag, but I really want others to get to enjoy this place. After driving past their little unassuming turn-here-type signs for the past 2 years, we finally decided to go check it out. When you pull up, you feel like you're trespassing on somebody's personal property and the layout makes you think they only have about 30 blueberry bushes in their front and side yard. ...BUT WAIT FOR IT...you walk up to their front porch, grab a bucket, and the nice lady takes you around back where there is a magnificent grove of blueberry bushes as far as you can see. Wow!! She shows you how to "milk" the blueberries off the bush, then lets you loose to do it on your own and invites you to feel free to sample them as you pick, because they have multiple varieties of blueberries. They grow their berries organically, but aren't "certified", so they can't advertise as "organic." Cost is $4.75 per pound. I took my 2 teenage daughters and my 3-year old, and we were all able to pick them easily. It was so much fun, and they are DELICIOUS!! But be careful: you'll end up with 15 pounds before you know it! After they weigh your berries and you pay, they give you a bag to take them home in, along with some free blueberry recipes. While you visit the "modern outhouse" (hilarious), the younger kids can play on the playground. Playground is homemade and won't compete with the super-duper-style playgrounds available nowadays, but still fun to go down the slide and climb a little under the shade of some huge trees. Super-nice people. What a great experience! We will definitely go back soon!The season starts at the end of June and runs through August 15.
