We visited one evening when they were advertising a holiday event depicting pioneer life around the year-end. The parking lot had a trail of luminaries and a greeter with an old fashioned lantern to lead us to the main house. From there we toured the grounds to see the other buildings and were treated to the history by very knowledgeable guides at each stop. It was real treat and the cost was very reasonable!

I drove to Ramsey house earlier in the day, which was about 30 minutes from my hotel. When I arrived there a sign was on the gift shop door explaining that the house was closed to tours because of an illness. I can't fault someone for having to go home because of being sick which is why I'm not reflecting my disappointment in the rating of the attraction. Since I had driven that far, I still walked around the grounds and took a lot of pictures. The house is beautiful in a simple, understated way. I could tell they had decorated it for Christmas, I'm sure the inside is just as beautiful. If I am ever in Knoxville again I'll definitely attempt another tour.

We toured Ramsey House for its annual candlelight tour...this place is incredible. Truly takes you back to 18th Tennessee...from the smells, the lighting, the decor, you are truly transformed. A must see for all tourist and locals in the area. Merry Christmas and thanks Ramsey House for making my Christmas spirit glow !!!!

We have quite a bit of history in and around Knoxville. Ramsey House is another good place for history. Ramsey dealt with Andrew Jackson and John Sevier. So there is plenty of history in his house. There are several steps because it is too story and also a couple of steps to get inside. No photographs are allowed inside but of course outside.

I stopped at Ramsey House not expecting very much. I was in for a pleasant surprise. First of all go there by way of John Sevier Highway and enjoy the pretty drive. The house itself is plain enough from the outside, but imposing in a stark way from the fact that it is entirely made of stone. The docent that gave the tour was very pleasant and enthusiastic about her job. We were only 3 touring the house and were able to take our time. What makes this such a pleasant visit is the lovely period furniture and artifacts in the house. The kitchen was also most interesting. There is a picnic table outside if one is inclined to a littke bite al fresco.

こじんまりとした、建物ですが、見応えありました。英語わからなくても、たのしめました。小学生の社会見学と遭遇して楽しかったですよ。
