I live in dover de so I have been here a total of four times. Ea h time I go I love and enjoy it soooo much!! This time my dad and my nephew and I went my nephew is 5 years old and he was in love from the time we drove up to park. If your visiting DE for the first time you should def make a stop here you won't regret it. The staff is also so nice and friendly and they make you feel welcomed.
My son is currently in Tech school here in Dover and it was a great learning experience do my husband and I. We learned about the C 5 Galaxy which is the plane my son will be a Crew Chief soon at Travis AFB.
While in Dover ...good to see.Ask for tour guide to be able see additional attraction.Wish to see outside in the summer...
It is worth the effort to go to this out of the way mu.seum on the premises of the Dover AFB More or less for the aviation buff or former military but kids might like it too and the price is right!
If you are interested in the history of the Air Force and how it's task of moving and suppling troops and aid this is a great place to visit from fighters, bombers and the transporting of supplies and aid you can see and touch this history and relive it. A great place for the family to visit.
Very interesting displays, helpful volunteers. We learned a lot of interesting tidbits. It's located mostly within a hanger so it's cold in the winter. Some of the displays could use some updating and maintenance.
We live in the Dover area and have visited several times. It is extremely interesting and new planes are added occasionally. Really nice way to spend the afternoon. They have no admission cost just donations. Well worth visiting.
great collection of cargo/transport aircraft. From dc3 to c5, and everything in between. Not crowded so you can enjoy the time.
This is a free chance to physically check out various USAF planes and jets. A great educational tool for children and perfect for a school field trip. The best part is the hands on experience along with retired USAF people who have the actual experience, telling their role of serving our great country.
The museum and staff are outstanding. Always a great time especially during the Christmas season when they have the trains set up for the kids. We usually visit 3-4 times a year and always enjoy ourselves.
We liked being able to see the planes up close and actually getting to go inside certain ones. It was also great having military personnel there to explain details about the planes and answer our questions.
Lots of things for the children to learn about. Lots of planes to look at. I was there on a field tip with my daughter. They gave a very nice tour.
We were visiting friends in the area and decided to spend Saturday morning at the museum. My son loves aviation just as much as I do, so this was a no-brainer. Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate for all the displays outside -- it was cold and rainy. However, we still had a great time inside. We really liked the C-47 that you can climb in/on. We will definitely return the next time we are in the area. The volunteers that run the museum were all very nice and fun to talk with.
This is a great place to see a wide variety of airlift aircraft and a few fighters. Most of the staff members are volunteers who eagerly share their knowledge and stories and want to hear from the many veterans who visit
While on our way to VA Beach from Buffalo, we accidentally bumped into this GEM! This is by far the best military museum I've been too, and I never knew it existed. The museum is immaculate, and there's no charge (donations greatly appreciated). Everything was perfect, clean and neat, like all things military. The access is second to none! We've been to AF shows in the past, but the access here was unmatched. The ability exist to climb on board the cockpit of an actual aircraft and touch the controls...How awesome is that!Thank you AF, and Delaware!M
