This little gem was totally unknown to me until I started planing my trip across Idaho on my GPS navigator. It came up as an attraction more or less along my route. The location is not marked in any way on maps, in the vicinity or on site, but locals seem to know it.You may get an indication about it as you get closer. At least if you approach from the north. For the last mile or so you will be driving next to a deep canyon, and the falls are found at the very end of that.Looking at the area from the wrong aspect, however, will not give you any hint at all of the site, as can be seen on the 3rd picture. Just another Idaho farming area. There is some sort of a low dam or wall a few feet from the rim, but if it is merely a fence to keep visitors from dropping into the abyss, is unknown. The location is said to be on public land, but there are fences in the area, but none to be crossed when walking the 200 feet in from the paved road. I do not know if the falls are seasonal or prehistoric, but as it can be seen, the area is quite dry. The view, however, is impressive! And the ospreys I saw gliding around down inside the canyon told me just how big this thing really is!Unfortunately this must really be redneck country. Some time ago, somebody came up with the bright idea to drop a car into the canyon. The wreck is still down there as can bee seen on picture 1.Location on Google Maps: http://maps.google.com/?ll=42.888676,-115.352154&spn=0.006076,0.008508&t=h&z=17
