Have been twice now for their summer celebration but buy their wine all year long where available. I like the sweet fruity ones and they have several to pick from!
Nice place to taste some wines and sit back and relax. There is a park with a river setting just down the road. Check it out.
On my recent "Winery Tour across Iowa, Northern Route", our first stop was the Eagle City Winery. Yes, wine is good at 10 am (: Jaimie did an excellent job of serving and explaining the wines. It was hard to settle on just 4.Then Dr. Ken gave us a tour of his winery. Yes it is small, but he does a good job on the wine. The facility offers a small gift shop, party room, and outdoor venue for parties. The area is nice, even in April in the mud. I hope to go back in the summer or fall. One thing you have to remember when visiting Iowa's small wineries is to CALL FIRST! Let them know you're coming and you won't be dissapointed.
We had a lot of fun finding this winery. It is tucked into the trees near an extinct town that was named Eagle City. There is a great gift selection and the wine is wonderful. The owners were very friendly and informative. A nice drive and a nicer destination.
Can;t really review the wines because they were closed during posted business hours. No sign, no will return at, and no one was at the next door home. My advice: call first to be sure they're open. They don't appear to take the tasting room hours seriously, & this place is a little off the beaten track. Don't make the mistake we did & show up & wait 20 min for nothing.
I was very small for 8 people tasting wine, and they were out of wines. The gentalman serving was very nice. The port is very, very good.
