A must to see in St. Paul. The building is breath-taking and full of history and spirituality. A peaceful place to sit and pray.
This is a great building to view if you are in to architecture and an OK building to have mass in. I graduated high school from here and have been many times for other graduations and masses. If you are going to see the building, there are many details and niches to look at. It is quite impressive both on the inside and outside. For mass, try to sit in the center sections or the back of the wings, otherwise you might not be able to see the altar. Acoustics as pretty good for the size of the building, but are not among the best churches I have been to.
Stop in and say a prayer. light a candle to Mary or Joseph or the other Saints in other small altars behind sacristy! You will feel God here and a real inspiration of faith!Go down stairs to lower level and stop by for Daily Eucharistic Adoration from 8 to 4 Mon. Tues. and Fri8:00 to 7:00 Tues and Thurs in Cana Chapel!
When you park the at you see the wonder. The steps of the building are amazing. You walk up to some handcart wooden doors...as the doors open your eyes are in awww. This building becomes alive and the rooms takes you in. Matter if you are Catholic or not you feel the presence of something higher than one's self. Wow. Is understatement.
If you haven't had a chance to be inside an "old world" cathedral, take the chance. It is interesting, easily accessed with no waiting line, and it is free. It harkens back to a time when no detail was too small when it came to the "Lord's House." You can wander the main floor at your leisure. For a while, there was a video produced about replacing the expansive--and expensive--copper roof. It has views from the top, showing a gorgeous view of the surrounding city.Being a church, it is often overlooked as a "must see" spot--even by the locals.Enjoy
Love to attend Mass there in the morning and Sunday when I'm in town. So much History, love to just go and sit and look at all the beautiful statues and to pray the stations there.
What an amazing edifice of Roman Catholic architectural expression. Lived across the street from this building in the 1990s & watched them begin the renovation of the roof and the exterior – continually impressed with the attention to detail and quality of renovation taking place. Opinion: Even tough our air pollution will probably never return the roof's original green patina (a result of the increased toxins/pollutants in the air of yesteryear) they have so beautifully replaced the copper roof with exacting detail and perfectly-placed lighting (be sure you also see it after dark) that, in my opinion, the appearance surpasses the aged, too-thin, greened dome.Make sure you look for all of the specific stone-carved river-themed details and others, too numerous and extravagant to detail here.If you have the opportunity to experience a choral concert at the cathedral, take it! No better way to experience this architectural treasure/relic.
If you would like to experience a Catholic service in a majestic setting this is the place for you! It's beautiful and deeply rooted in St. Paul history.
This cathedral is beautiful and magnificent! What a gorgeous honor to God. It is huge and so old but beautiful inside and out, and the altar!!!! There is so much to see inside and to learn the history of this place is pretty cool. It was a joy to celebrate Mass here and to see the reverence people have for this place. You can walk around inside in the different areas and learn so much about many of the saints. There is a walkway behind the sanctuary that you can
While in town my wife and I visited the St Paul cathedral and enjoyed mass there. The first impression is one of awesome size. You can see it is huge from the outside, and the impression continues as you enter. The interior is quite ornate as well. I really like the beautiful stain glass windows. The altar is also attractive. I have been to many cathedrals in Europe and this one is close to the best of those in beauty and in the middle in size.
Spectacular dome. Beautiful walkway inside around entire cathedral. Do not miss this special place terrific neighborhoods and restored buildings nearby. St. Paul has done a great job preserving much of its heritage also is site of crashed ice contest in January
The cathedral in St. Paul is a very nice cathedral. I would highly recommend this as a place to visit when in St. Paul.
I was in town for a wedding and wanted to wonder St. Paul. Came across this cathedral and wow! You must see it. I have seen the Vatican in Rome and this Cathedral is built after the Vatican. It is absolutely beautiful.
This is one of the most stunningly beautiful Cathedrals in the US. Reminiscent of cathedrals you would find in Europe. If you’re in the area and you love architecture, you must stop by to see it. I didn't have a chance to attend mass here, but will definitely do so the next time I visit.
Words really cannot explain the beauty of the Cathedral of St. Paul! You must visit the Cathedral of St. Paul - doesn't matter if you are religious or not - it's worth the visit if you like history and/or architecture! We participated in the FREE tour - very educational! We also attended mass during our visit.
