Muni course, some drawbacks, but over all a neat course with an interesting layout. Ground work very hard to maintain the course with the large amount of play this course get. Greens are in great shape and roll very good.
As the rest of our family was out of town we decided that since it was just the two of us we would eat out. It was a set menu with homestyle turkey dinner. Food was plentiful, hot and very good. We made a reservation and were seated when we arrived. As they had different seating's we were not sure how things would go but the staff was organized and everything went smoothly. We would do this again.
Local golf course. great sledding in winter. Food is standard fare,Lively music and bar scene...with outdoor option in summer.
Derryfield provides a challenging course, filled with hills, trees and some straight aways. If you want the exercise, the course will challenge the best walker. Carts are available for rent. The most exciitng thing is the city continues to improve and upgrade the course, it is well maintained.
The view is spectacular, but so is most of New England this time of year. The clubhouse itself doesn't open til 11:30, but the Pro Shop was open. Apparently, we missed out on a fun experience by being too early for lunch.
I did not care for this course as it was in terrible shape. Other than that it is a good average course for the price.
first 13 holes in fair shape unless you are riding in a cart; you will need a athletic supporter for all the bumps. After 13th hole look out; horrible condition,. barren of grass. for a city owned course and very high green fees we will avoid on our next visit to the area
Went for an early dinner on a Wednesday night when they have a prime rib special. Hubby got this, which I tasted. I got fish & salad. I didn't think the fish or the prime rib had much flavor. The salad was actually excellent when I went. They have a more extensive menu than I expected with a variety of entrees I hope to try eventually. People were enjoying the bar nearby. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Prices were competitive with other restaurants. Restaurant was clean and quiet when we were there. I'll give them/their entrees another try.
We stopped here on a Friday night and they have excellent fish and chips along with a cold beer. Great prices also.
We tried Derryfield and it was about what I expected. Most reviews I saw were just about the restaurant with little to no mention of the course. They have an 18 hole course that spreads out over both sides of the main road that runs through it. The greens weren't in bad shape but the fairways were burnt out in a lot of places and it was difficult to tell where the fairways ended and the rough began. We took carts and the ground was so uneven that it felt like we were off-roading even driving down the middle of the fairway. It was $57 for golf with a cart and I felt that was a little steep given the course conditions. The deck bar scene was really hopping though and we stopped in for appetizers and a couple of drinks. Both were very good and the service was great. Most places say they're a golf course with a bar and restaurant. Derryfield is really a restaurant and bar with a golf course as a backyard. I'll be back for the deck bar on a really nice day but probably leave the clubs at home.
Definitely an excellent venue for any party you plan. Hosted a wedding shower and experience was awesome. From the first planning stages to the day of the event, helpful, friendly and royal treatment from all - event coordinator, bartender, and manager on duty that evening. Beautiful location-food was excellent-People loved the room and the carpet even matched the wedding colors. Really loved the whole experience dealing with the Derryfield CC.
We had breakfast here a few weeks back. It was very crowded. The food was decent and priced fair. If I was in the area again I would go.
When the weather is tempting you with summer -- go to the deck and have drinks and appetizers. Good music gets to know summer is around the corner. This is a pick up joint too for the 30-45+ crowd -- great people watching.
Wednesday nights The Derryfield has a prime rib special. There are 3 different portion sizes (10 oz. to 16 ounces) and the price ranges fron $10.99 to $16.99. The meal includes 2 sides. I had a baked potato and squash. The prime rib was cooked just the way I ordered it-medium rare and was very tender and tasty, as were the baked potato and the squash. They also have a "Tapas Menu" from 4-7 Monday-Friday. All items are $4.00 or $5.00. It includes items such as nachos, flatbread pizza, hummus, meatballs, chicken tenders, pretzels, wings, etc. there are also drink specials from 4-7. A great place to go alone, meet friends, or watch a game.
The food was average (prime rib), but had to ask the waitress for utensils after being seated....other tables were ALREADY prepped. When the dinner was served, it was luke warm at best and the atmosphere wasn't a quality set-up considering it is a golf course. It was okay, but have not returned.
