Happy Jack offers better views of the countryside with impressive large rock formations. Beautiful drive and the Lincoln Statue at eh top near the highest elevation point on US80.

take the Happy Jack road instead of I-80 and you'll see an abundance of natural beauty that you'd completely miss on the interstate.

Not much to say about the road, accept, it's a beautiful ride overlooking the prairie and the wind farm for energy. Don't expect to see gas stations, stores, and other shopping pleasures. I saw one bar and grill along the way, The Bunkhouse. Also, you will be going higher in elevation. My app said I got to 8,000 ft.Enjoy!

A great alternative to I80 in getting to Laramie, Wy from Cheyenne and you can stop at the beautiful Curt Gowdy State Park and Vedauwoo, with gorgeous rock formations. If the weather is bad, check to see if the road is open.

Really nice drive through the plains and then rocks between Cheyenne and Laramie. One problem is that most of those rock summits you see are on private lane, so no hiking! Try Curt Gowdy State Park.

don't take the interstate to Laramie , take this road, plenty of photo opportunities and turn off road along the way ( most were to snowy to attempt !!)couple of state parks as well so take your time.at the end of the road you join the I80 right at the Lincoln monument and visitors center. highest point on the Interstate.

Beautiful do not miss this area of Wyoming. Take a picnic and your camera. Nothing to dislike about this area.

Nice side trip that can take you Cheyenne-Laramie versus I-80. Stop in curt Gowdy State park for fishing, hiking, mountain biking and Vedauwoo for hiking and rock-climbing. Both fee areas, beautiful rock formations and have camping.

I80 traveling west can be very dull. From I25 North in Cheyenne take the Happy Jack Rd exit (exit 10) and drive between Cheyenne and the Summit Rest Area outside of Laramie. If traveling east on I 80 take the Happy Jack Rd exit outside LAramie at the summit Rest Area. There is a little roadhouse on a historic Cheyenne ranch location for lunch or dinner and Curt Gowdy State Park, plus the Vedauwoo Recreation Area. For a diversion take a beautiful, bumpy drive, from Happy Jack Rd.onto Vedawoo Rd.and drive slowly through the Recreation Area. All dirt and potholed but a beautiful drive through a unique rock formation high plains area. It is very beautiful in the fall when the aspens turn.If you are on the Happy Jack from Cheyenne to Laramie, the Vedawoo Rd turn off is on your left with a big sign. Vedauwoo Rd. will let you out eventually at the entrance to the Recreation Area (keeping going in an easterly direction on the main dirt road) and you rejoin I80 at the Vedawoo Exit. This is a glimpse of how beautiful and special Wyoming truly is.

The road started in Cheyenne and ended at the Lincoln Monument on I-80. The scenery went from rolling open plains where you could easily imagine thousands of buffalo thundering along to mountain peaks. The Curt Gowdy State Park was a nice stop along the way with lots of rustic camping and two water reservoirs.

What a beauty! All the locals recommend this as the route to use for a scenic drive when traveling between Laramie and Cheyenne. Highlights include beautiful natural rock formations, the wind farm with its amazingly huge windmills, lots of lovely scenery the whole way along, and Curt Gowdy State Park.We were driving from Laramie to Cheyenne and we took a detour and drove through Curt Gowdy State Park. We stopped at the visitor center there and were told it costs nothing if you just want to drive through the park. It has two beautiful lakes and it took us longer to make the trip this way, but I was glad we did it.I loved this drive and I agree with the locals that this is a great scenic drive.

Stunning views! Take the time to get off the interstate and take a scenic drive. The road curves up and down through the mountains. There are places to pull off to the side of the road to take pictures in places.

If you're coming back to Cheyenne from Laramie, turn off at the Monument / Rest Stop and continue your travels on Happy Jack Road. You won't be disappointed. This is Wyoming's beauty. A wonderful drive!

This is a reallly pretty road to travel on to the Lincoln Monument. In fact besides the pretty rocks this is the highlight of the road.

This might be the only thing worth visiying Cheyenne for. I didnt get as far as veudawoo but i dis see some pronghorn so that was nice. Also neat to see the windfarm. There is also a frontage road along I 25 just south of cheyenne with a really huge farm with bison so that was also scenic.
