Within the Geology faculty on a large spreading campus (wish mine had been like that), this museum is worth a visit if you are interested in fossils, dinosaurs and general geology. Kids will love the skeletons (real) and mock ups of their appearances. Its small enough to entertain and not to bore. If you're visiting Laramie there's not much to the town, but this museum and the art faculty are worth seeing. Plenty of parking at the latter.

This small museum, on the University of Wyoming campus, has a couple of great dinosaur skeletons, fossils, and other interesting displays, and is definitely worth checking out. Parking was surprisingly not too hard to find a couple of streets over. There is no admission charge.

Took our 6-year-old niece here, and she adored all the exhibits. Newer renovations have updated the interactive elements, though it retains a great sense of nostalgia. Our niece, when asked what she'd like to do on her second day visiting, chose to come back to the museum! Such a great resource to our community and to visitors.

It makes me want to go out and dig to find my own mineral specimans! Great lab for recovering fossils as well.

Visited for first time recently. Had some time to spare between appts and checked it out. Interesting exhibits, many made by students. Always good to learn a few new things. This is a real home-grown, low key place, not at all intimidating and easy to understand for all. Also, it is free! Only negative I'd have is regarding noise. This museum, like many others, is not a place for kids to run wild, screaming, and running into strangers. Parents, please control your kids, or take them outside.

I did not expect this museum to have such a rich collection. Recently renovated, it has a little bit of everything in it, from beautiful paintings to amazing private collections, and every one who is displayed at this museum is top of the line.

How many small towns have a museum with dinosaurs? Surely very few. Maybe only one. But if you go to Laramie, enjoy the museum (free admission) and see what they have.

This small museum on the campus of the University of Wyoming is well worth the time to see it. When you first walk in you see life size skeletal replicas of dinosaurs that are found at archeological sites in Wyoming. There are lots of fossils, rocks and minerals that are found in the region. One of my favorite displays was the luminescent rocks that glowed in the dark under a black light. This attraction is free and worth the time to see it. Your kids will love the dinosaurs!

This pocket museum displays impressive local specimens...dinosaurs and other. It is true to its focus on the Wyoming region.

The UW Geological museum is wonderful for kids, especially if they are at an age when they are absolutely fascinated by dinosaurs. It's relatively small with a fair number of real dinosaur skeletons--perfect for the attention span of tykes my grandson's age. It's also free, so there's no worry if the kids get fidgety and have had enough. The Museum was recently renovated and some exhibits are still a work in progress. In addition to the Geology Museum, there are some other intriguing fossils and rocks hidden in small cases throughout the Geology building which the staff will tell you about if you ask. The Museum is currently open Monday through Saturday from 10 to 4. As with virtually all college campuses these days, parking can be problematic on week days. There are paid parking meters available behind the Student Union within easy walking distance. There is also an information counter in the Union where they can direct you if you are unfamiliar with the campus.

This is a great stop for a family. It take about 2 hours to experience it all, and you could make it in an hour if you hurried along. It's free, but student staff is usually available to answer questions. Parking can be difficult to find. You'll either need to use the metered parking lots on the east side of campus or find street parking on the north or west side of campus. Either way be prepared for a couple of blocks walking to reach it. Don't forget to throw a pinecone into the T-Rex's mouth on your way out - It's tradition!

The museum had 2 floors and real dinosaur skeletons. We really like the black room where you can see rocks that light up when the light goes off. There is no admission charge, but donations are accepted. My grand kids love it there.

The Geology Museum on the beautiful University of Wyoming campus is worth at least an hour's visit to see two complete, mounted dinosaur skeletons if nothing else. And, there's plenty more to see, too. The museum is in the midst of renovations, so some of the displays were not complete when we visited in July 2013, but there was more than enough to keep my wife and me interested during our 1-1/2 hour visit. The museum is free--even more of an incentive to visit--and the graduate student who greeted us when we visited was friendly and very knowledgeable.

This place is great, if your driving past this area you should stop. Open on the weekend. was very impressed with my visits. Staff was nice and helpful. Plus it was free!

The date on our visit is wrong. We visited this a long time ago. At that time is was a delightful little museum tucked away on campus. It's well worth the visit. It's small enough to make for a quick filler in your schedule and is right on campus to allow for visits to other interesting sites.
