This is a great place to learn about the history of Laramie as well as tour the historic home. We took a guided tour and our guide was a local historian who gave us an exceptional tour. There aren't specific timed tours during the hours when guided tours are offered. When we showed up, the lady in the gift shop who sold us our tickets simply escorted us to join a tour in progress, and we stayed thru its completion and then thru the beginning of the next tour until we reached the part where we had originally joined in. A few other small groups joined and left as the 90-minute tour progressed also. We happened to do this as our first activity in Laramie and it made a great introduction.
A beautiful house with many treasures. Our docent was on her last tour of the day and gave us her best. Thank you!
Took the grandkids here when we were on a history trip vacation. Very interesting and the kids loved seeing all the old stuff as they called it.
This was interesting. However the guide spend all the time on the furnishings and not the history of the building.
The executive director, Mary Mountain is so personably and knowledgable, she made this such and enjoyable experience.
The mansion features a fantastic re-creation of the life of Edward and Jane Ivinson; restoration of this home has been a work in progress. The docents are knowledgeable and entertaining, the grounds are lovingly maintained. I never miss Tea on Tuesday, going at least once each summer to hear the program in which they feature a speaker on pertinent topics to the history and times past of the Ivinson Mansion. Always something new to hear and see!
Tours led by young people that are very knowledgeable in the history of the Mansion. The gift shop has outstanding greeting cards and other nice gift ideas. There is nothing I didn't like about the area or location.
The house is gorgeous but if you like me, you'll love the gardens the most before you ever go in! They were setting up for a wedding on the grounds. I am sure it was a beautiful place to get married.
We were given a fantastic tour around with a first class guide. This was filled with History and i recommend that anyone who visits Laramie goes to see this. There is not much else. Like many "wild west" towns they have not saved their heritage sadly!
You will enjoy seeing the painstaking restoration of the Ivinson family home. It is lovely and if you are into period furnishings this is your place to be. The history of the family and town given by tour guide is also great.
This place is run by volunteers and the lady who took us on the tour was excellent. If you are stopping off in Laramie this is a must see. It is full of history and you really should not miss it. Quality place run by quality people
I enjoyed the lovely Ivinson home for its peek into the way people lived 100+ years ago. Our docent was wonderful and I enjoyed her description of the pieces in the home.
Really beautiful, well maintained home of one of Laramie's early settlers. Fabulous decor of the time- Docents will give you a very informative tour- nice gift shop back in the Carriage House- a definite must see for anyone traveling through Laramie
We got here on a Sunday and the place was closed! Gardens were nice though and worth walking around.
This is a beautiful old mansion! The docents were very knowledgable and helpful. I like visiting places where the people who work there know what they are doing and like their jobs!
