Reasonable golf experience on a well maintained course with a nice view of Lake Conroe. Moderate prices, friendly clubhouse - open to the public.
This is a fun course with the distance to be a challenge. It is longer than most club courses so pay attention to the tee box you play
Nice course, looks easy, but it isn't. We had a great time. The front 9 seemed easier, but I scored better on the back. During the summer i bet this is a beautiful course, the fairways were still brown. Get your Groupon for your tee times, we got it and saved a ton. The staff were great, nice bar and snack area.
This course has A LOT of potential but when I played I was somewhat disappointed. The good, great layout! You need to be able to hit both draws and fades off the tee depending on the hole. Some very tight fairways and good placement of water and bunkers! Rough was thick but not unreasonable to hit out. Receptive and large greens. Also, the staff was great and very friendly. Even the grounds crew working while while playing were extremely The disappointing....First, I booked this when I booked my room for the resort. I paid $65 though the resort but when I looked online it was only $45. So you better to book online than through the resort.Second, the course is very green and pretty from recent rains but the greens are super super slow. They were being cut while I was playing but even freshly cut they were terribly slow. They really need to roll the greens several times to speed them up. Even downhill putts didnt break true because I had to hit the so hard just to get them to the hole.Third, the teeboxes and several fairways needs to be mowed. The grass was way too high on the teeboxes and made it tough a few times to hit and iron off the tee without using a physical tee. The same goes for some of the fairways which needed to be cut very badly. All in all, this course has a ton of potential, but with greens that slow and grass that high on teeboxes and fairway is was disappointed.
I have visited several times it the past few months and things just seem to be off. From the poor wine selection, limited beer offerings and changed up menu, things have really gone downhill lately. It's unfortunate, because the best item on the menu was the beer can chicken, that is no longer offered. Puzzling.....
The entire place was remodled and the whole place looks beautiful. The bar and hotel were excellent and accomadating.
Fantastic place to relax and play! Just serene and awesome!
The course itself is in decent shape. The fairways are green, but the trees are struggling. This course has LOTS of trees! Some of them are being removed because of the drought last year and that has left stumps along the sides of the fairways. Several of the greens have brown spots that need to be touched up but overall it is a decent course for someone who is an average golfer. The people working the Pro Shop were not the most polite. Also, there is no map of the course so you are driving blind at times.
The fareways was great but the greens needs work. However I will go back soon. The people that work is the shop made me very welcome. They were nice.
Several of the greens on the front nine need to be reseeded. The back nine was in much better condition.
Well I guess it is still winter golf!Nice layout though. As tough as you can handle from the tips! At least today in the extremely stiff "breeze" - probably at least 25-30 mph. Sometimes as much as a 3-4 club wind. Most likely a little more fair from the other boxes. The greens were in pretty rough shape. So, not much opportunity to save some strokes with the flat stick! We got a deal on the greens fees, otherwise I would have been a lot more disappointed. $75 would have been over the top for the current conditions.I would give them another chance and play again when the greens are back. The pro and staff were very friendly. And pace of play was great. We waited on no one and played in about three hours and forty five minutes.Recommend waiting until the course has come back from the winter.
My company held a sales meeting at this resort recently and I was embarrassed that we had customers in attendance. The golf course was referred to as "the browns". Folks conducting seminars would stomp the roaches that ran across the room during presentations. The wallpaper in the bathroom was peeling off and the carpet and upholstery in my room was old, stained and nasty. One person mentioned that they had to take the toilet tank lid off to flush the toilet in their room. Every time I took a shower I was up to my shins in tubwater before I got out. I felt sorry for the few young families I saw that had actually paid money to be there. I would have been furious. You can tell this was a great place once upon a time. I hope they invest something in it before it crumbles apart.
Stayed there last Memorial Day weekend. The whole place needs an overhaul. The carpet was so yucky I kept my sandles on the whole time. Behind the blinds on the windows were dead bugs, filth and grime. The kitchenette was filthy, didn't have anything stocked to use, so be sure to bring your own stuff. I was leary of sitting on the furniture. The deck was gross - it was dirty and had dead bugs everywhere. On a trip down to the marina area, the walkway fencing had cobwebs and dead bugs that looked like they had been there for years. The pool was so green, I thought I would loose my children in there if they went under water. It was supposedly from the pollen. yeah right. It is not worth the money, but unfortunately, it is the only hotel on Lake Conroe. Proceed with caution.
