Nice place to check out if you have never bet on racing. The area is nice with inside and outside seating. The restaurant inside is nice to order food while watching the races. Usually a nice crowd, busy but not too busy.

LSP is a great day-cation. It is a beautiful park and there is plenty of space in the paddock area to stand close to the horses as they come out to the track. You can really get a good look at them. . You can be outside downstairs right be the track, or -- for a very reasonable price -- you can reserve a table overlooking the track and bet right from your table. Food is good too.

Swapmeet at Lone Star Park was great..Only thing was porta potties got pretty full and were out of toilet paper first day.

Lone Star is a thoroughbred track and offers an overall fun and different experience. Kids are welcome, which is nice. Betting is easy and collecting is likewise easy (occasionally my betting strategy of cool names and long odds hits). The track has a nice restaurant where you can reserve a table and bet from there while enjoying your meal. The food was surprisingly good, especially the barbecue. Recommended.

No matter if you can prove your point or not your wrong when it comes to staff at lone star park. The president Mr Scott will not return any phone calls and if you follow chain of command you do not receive a phone call back. They are always right and customer is always wrong. That is why the attendance is falling and less people are coming to the track.

Thanks for coming out to visit us at Lone Star Park! We are glad that you and your group had a wonderful time!

Visited the park on the 4th of July for the very first time. Very crowded and long lines everywhere. Will definitely come back on a non-holiday. You don't have to spend a lot of money to have a good time.

Caught a game on the way back from a cross-country road trip. The stadium was beautiful, the game was ok, and the fans around us were god awful. Not in a mouthy, booing, cursing, way but in a no-one-sits-in-their-ticketed-seats-and-plays-musical-chairs-the-entire-game kind of way. On top of that the same people kept getting up to get food or go to the bathroom or whatever, but this was incessant. I know its a baseball game, you're allowed to do whatever you want, but the people around us were so rude and had no respect that we had to stand up every 5 to 10 minutes (this is not an exaggeration) so their fat butts could squeeze by. Ultimately it ruined the whole game and we left early. On the bright side we went out for ice cream and beat the hell out of traffic.

It is nice and a great date. That being said, the food is very overpriced. I would definitely only want to be in the clubhouse or somewhere inside.

Usually we are in a suite when we visit Lone Star Park. This time we tried the Silks Dining Room. The buffet was nothing special though there were a lot of deserts.Cherry cobbler ran out. Food that was in steamer trays was cold. Not good when it's fried food.At 8:00 pm I could not get regular coffee. Took the decaf which was the worst coffee I've ever had. Two sugar packets and 6 "creamers" did nothing. In fact the creamer wasn't real cream or milk! It was non-dairy creamer. Really? I left it, as it was undrinkable and I'm not a Starbucks drinker so my tastes are pretty normal. For $49 a person we can't get coffee or cream/milk?Our waitress made several comments about receiving "poor" tips. She also asked my husband if he wanted her to use his credit card to go shopping on Amazon. What was that all about? She was a poor waitress; had to ask several times for a cocktail (by the time she brought it, Happy Hour was over), water and coffee. Had a difficult time getting her attention when we did want something. It's no wonder she doesn't get tipped well. She's a lousy waitress. I wish I could remember her name (her teeth were discolored).

We took our daughter and her husband to the races for the 4th of July. All in all it was a fun afternoon but the clubhouse has definitely seen it's better day and is in dire need of a face lift. The chairs in the boxes were all missed matched, torn and stained. The common areas just look dated and generally dirty. One thing I must point out is the whole reservation process is poor at best. The web site is way out of date showing racing dates several years ago. Their seating map is a joke and quite frankly the people you talk to on the phone just aren't very knowledgeable or helpful. We had a fun time in spite of negatives but I wouldn't rush back anytime soon.

An inexpensive afternoon for everyone. Holidays are always an adventure with many activities available for all of the family. If your not into betting you will enjoy the experience of watching the race horses from paddock to the race itself. The horses are beautiful, the facility is clean and modern with many food and beverage choices. There is a fee for sitting in the box area but, well worth it during the hot season, enjoy the air conditioning and comfort.

We decided to go to the Jazz brunch at Silk's for Father's day. It was hard to find much info about it online before we went. When I called, the people weren't helpful either. We called on the way over and they said they still had a few tables available....that made it seem like they were all ready seating people. They said they didn't take same day reservations to just come on over. We got there around 10:15. The attendant in the parking lot was clueless about where we should park for it or where we needed to go in. We ended up going to the side of the building where another employee let us walk right in. We got up to Silks and were told that they don't open until 11:30. The snooty woman didn't bother to tell us we needed to go downstairs and buy tickets to get in. She just said they had tables available and would seat us if we came back at 11:30. Didn't bother to mention that the building wasn't even opened at the time! We walked down stairs looking for a place to sit and were politely kicked out by a security guard who told us the building was not opened and we had to go out and buy tickets to get in. Over and over we kept asking various people, "Why didn't any one else tell us what we needed to do or where to go?" Everyone there seemed clueless! The brunch is $30 per person, but you can order off the menu too. In addition to paying for that you also have to pay for club level entrance which was $8 each! I think if you're paying that much for the meal that that should be your entrance fee into the park or the entrance fee should be applied to your meal cost or something. At the very least, it would be nice if the process was advertised. It would have been helpful if the website explained all the costs involved and where you needed to go/what you needed to do, etc. We weren't the only ones confused by it all. That being said, it was a fun lunch. The food was ok. Lots of yummy desserts! Lots of Mexican food too...some good, some not. The enchiladas tasted like frozen. My husband enjoyed his omelette....LONG line for it though and only one guy making them. The pasta station doesn't open until 1:00...that was disappointing. I would have loved some! They had a salad bar, cheese & crackers, veggies (squash), cilantro potatoes, some kind of beans, enchiladas, prime rib, turkey, sausage. It's really fun to watch the races from the restaurant, but it's pretty pricey so I can't see us doing it very often. They just really need to put more details on their website about it or hire some people who know what's going on.

Lone Star Park is an inexpensive afternoon for "kid of all ages." We actually went with friends on Memorial Day, but families with children will enjoy the experience of watching the race horses from paddock to the race itself. The horses are beautiful, the many food choices tasty, and the betting fun from experienced betters to those out to have a good time and spending nothing.

This is a place we visit at least once each spring and it's always a great time. It's relatively cheap with free parking, $5 entrance and $2 bets (we're not gamblers but just do small ones for fun). The food is always good including the nachos, pizza and crawfish when they have it. Beers aren't cheap unless you go on a special night and you can't beat free concerts after the races. You can't beat it for a fun, clean and cheap time. It's also family friendly.
