land of lights athens texas

Long lines, wood cutouts, same themes year after year. Really could use an update with new themes. Needs more organizing with lines.

We have been visiting the Land of Lights since 1998 and have only missed one year. We even take our dogs with us! Every December we stop off at our favorite Mexican restaurant in Athens and then trek off to the mile long drive of the amazing fantasy land. The park is displayed in sections that you drive through. Various Christmas songs play at each section and are garnished with characters, houses, and toys. Some of these displays are big buildings filled with hundreds of stuffed animals, barbies, trucks and cars. There is a house with the Grinch, there are Disney characters, Flintstones, Blues Brothers, Elvis to name a few. The lighted tunnels are very cool. There are two steep hills that you have to wait for the vehicle in front of you so be careful on those. The drive lasts approximately 30 minutes, there is food and hot chocolate available at the concession stand which you can enjoy before or after your adventure. Cost is $25.00 per carload. Take a drive out to Land of Lights….you will be so glad that you did and may start your own Christmas tradition.

This is a local place to see some spectacular Christmas lights, I pass this place on my way to work during the summer, and just think cant wait for this place to open during the season, the kids will love this place, you stay in your car and drive through, you will be in Awww with the beautiful lights

Have been going to Land of Lights for several years. Every year they have added new sections and kept the old sections fresh. We take along blankets and hot chocolate so we can leave all the windows down and enjoy the various Christmas songs. I agree with previous post that going earlier in the holiday month is important to avoid lines.

This is a fun place at Christmas time! Lots of lights, scenes, music, and fun! I love that they throw local things in too! Our 3 year old had a blast! We'll go again!

Its a great park right on the outskirts of Athens. We have gone 3 years in a row now. Its a great way to get in the holiday spirit. Be sure to go early in the month ( as opposed to Christmas week) if you want shorter lines. The people working the gate, taking the money, are happy and friendly, and it sets the mood for the whole drive.

We have lived here twelve years and have visited different "light" attractions over the years. I would rate this one the best in East Texas! Therefore, excellent!
