The three houses have been beautifully preserved, each from a different era--Colonial to Victorian. The tour guide is very knowledgeable and gives the family history of each house. The museum shop has beautiful items you won't see everywhere. The Victorian home was beautifully decorated for Christmas.

My wife and I were the only ones on a tour on a Saturday morning in December. The houses were decorated for Christmas to make things a little more interesting. The tour actually covers three houses, the Joseph Webb house, the Silas Deane house and the Isaac Stevens house. George Washington actually did sleep in the Webb house for several nights and there he planned the successful Yorktown battle with French General Rochambeau, which ended the Revolutionary War. History does not champion Silas Deane, but he played an important role in the war as well. The Stevens house has a nice collection of old toys and doll houses. The tour guide was knowledgeable and informative. It is worth a couple of hours.

Windsor is the oldest town in CT settled in 1633. Wethersfield follows as it was settled in 1634. Wethersfield still wants to believe otherwise.

It was less than $20 per person for the tour of this house. I would recommend it to all CT residents, you learn so much about our history.

I recently moved to Wethersfield and I take everyone who visits to the Webb Deane Stevens museum. So far, I've learned new things each time I visit. If you're in a rush, you can just tour the house that George Washington stayed in and planned the Battle of Yorktown. If you are interested in history, I recommend touring all three houses (it takes about 1 hour). Tours cost $12/person. There is also an extensive gift shop with great books and historical maps and items. Make sure to walk to the cemetery behind the church after your tour!

Everyone in the area should visit this museum..Connecticut should be very proud of its role in history and this is the place to turn back the clock..Not only for history buffs but a place for families and students to learn about its role in the American Revolutionary War..Who could pass up walking through the doors of a house George Washington walked through and then planned the final battle of the war..I first visited as a grade school student and it's more interesting going back as an adult..Such a wealth of history.

We were in Wethersfield researching my family tree and decided to visit these historic homes. Our guide was very knowledgeable and patiently answered all of our questions. It gave us a good feel for what life was like in this town in the 1700's. Well worth the price of admission to see these homes!

Lots of great information, especially if you like Civil War History and antiques. It was great to see three houses to compare socioeconomic differences and the effects of history. Well priced also!

Wethersfield preserves its memories to share with visitors (and has a gift shop for restless children). Remember to enjoy the gardens of established perennial beds and substantial trees throughout town.

Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the families who built these homes and the roles they played in helping to form our country. The three homes are side by side and furnished simply but with an eye towards historical accuracy. Conveniently located downtown, directly across from Lucky Lou's Restaurant. Beautiful town with a great deal of historical significance.

A 'follower of presidents,' I was drawn to this museum because Washington visited here to meet with Rochambeau to plan the Yorktown offensive against Cornwallis in 1781. Earlier, another future president, John Adams, was entertained at the Deane house. I was privileged to have one of their fine docents, Phil, guide me through these three jewels of colonial architecture. The jewel of the collection to me was the Webb House where Washington stayed for 5 days. As a fellow history buff, Phil made the visit unique with accurate information presented informally with enough wit to make the visit worthwhile. This is an historic collection of homes not to be missed.

I had been to the Webb Deane Stevens Museum over the summer. It was a nice tour, but nowhere as entertaining as the "Witchcraft and Tombstones" Tour that I joined in on Saturday, October 20th. And what a beautiful day it was. It had to be about 70 degrees, with the perfect amount of sun and wind. Could not have asked for a better day. The tour consisted of an informative and enjoyable 1.5 hours spent at the Buttolph Williams House, ancient burying ground, and lastly, one of the houses that make up part of the museum. And, all this for the great price of $10. Reservations highly suggested.Tour starts at the Buttolph-Williams House, which has on display replicas of what would have been period time pieces of the 1600's, and the partial setting for "The Witch of Blackbird Pond" written by Elizabeth George Speare. A great, Newbury Award winning novel, highly recommended a read.I highly suggest this tour for anyone interested learning some great facts about CT History during the mid 1600's.

The three houses are authentic and well preserved examples of 18th C American domestic architecture and all are furnished in period style. These are not reconstructions but the real thing! See them.

Part of four historical museum buildings to visit while in the town of Old Wethersfield, this tour should be on your 'must do' list. In other words you will want to plan a day or weekend here to see into its historical past. Wethersfield is post card beautiful with tree-lined streets, lanes and many quaint buildings in the area to stroll past. Three houses and the barn can be visited but check the opening/closing times as Tuesdays seems to be a closed day. We saw the three houses for $10 p/p with a dollar discount being a AAA member.The guide will tell you about he people who lived and visited here including George Washington. It is an engaging narration and at the end you will feel a part of this story. They will also explain the time line of events with the successive owners and how they lived in the 1700's and beyond. All the restoration work here is authentic and everything has been sympathetically and realistically done to rediscover the style of the time.No cameras or videos are allowed, however, some books, postcards and gifts are available as keepsakes of your visit if you wish. The gift shop is an eclectic mix in the New England style, all very pretty with other interesting things to choose from.The house is amazing but the best part of the tour was our compelling guide who made you realise the importance of preservation. This museum deserves all the patronage it can get, as it will be kept for future generations to know about early American History.Enjoy your visit!
