Small beach but when tide is low, you can walk out on the sand bars with your chairs and enjoy hours of fun while being away from the shore - kids love hunting for the little craps etc - fun - fun - fun for them. Bring your lunch and plan to spend the day. When the wind is up - great place to watch the wind surfers

We found a shed and seating arrangements for few people on the hallway of the beach. A nice sunset place. Good to go with family, good to go with snacks, coffee/tea to end the day. Children can do sand activities. It is a lovely small beach. Found very calm and quiet surrounding during this winter.

Low tide wonders for at least 1/2 mile. Little kids haven with water creatures galore. Sunsets that make you think your in Big Sur! And with the correct wind conditions Kite Surfers who can give the West coast boys a run for the #instagrams.

There's a lovely bench to sit on with a cup of coffee in the morning and take in the gorgeous surroundings before you stroll the beach. Unusual in that there is eel grass in the beach area - so there are birds and sea creatures around. Last time I was there I watched a cormorant on the end on the piling drying its wings before fishing. So nice cuz it was QUIET!!

This beach is ideal for people with small children. It sits in an inlet and when the tide is out you can walk at least a a half mile into the sound without the water reaching your thighs. My grand kids loved it. Most of the day was spent looking for hermit crabs and other "sea creatures". A kind gentleman showed my grandson how to dig for clams. Digging in the sand and making castles kept them occupied .The beach I was not crowded and even though you have to pay for the parking ($20) you can park very close to the beach which makes dragging your beach stuff very easy. There are bathrooms available..very beachy. And there is an outside showerA food truck and ice cream vendor come by in the pm.Bring an umbrella for shade and there are no chair rentals.Kids had a great day and adults enjoyed the view and the sand.

Good for the little ones, nothing special. Luckily we had a parking pass from our Inn. If I had to pay the $20 parking fee I would have been extremely upset for what you get.

This beach was so quaint, pretty and relaxing after a long drive in a summer afternoon. I suggest go in the afternoon for the breezy sunset.

At low tide this beach made me want to be 10 years old again (my wife does say I act that way anyway). All the sand bars and the open beach area are great -- this is wonderful place for the family -- warm water, no undertow -- a lot of fun. The food truck had very good food -- the owner "customized" a hot dog for my wife with his homemade barbecue sauce. There is a beach house for changing. The sand is OK but as I said at low tide the beach is awesome (the water i very warm),

You can walk from Harvey's to Town Beach on the sand flats at low tide, The sunsets are beautiful. Go after hours, you won't need a beach pass.

Listen we live in town and I wouldn't pay that either, however, if you go after 500 you can just go in, and believe after 500 is the best time to go especially at low tide you can walk for maybe 2 miles the whole area is one large sandbar with rolling gentle waves perfect for families with kids as they can dig in the sand play in the tidal pools and look for shells and hermit crabs this is definitely a hidden gem on the CT shoreline.

This is such a great beach. Especially with small children. But 30.00 for parking. We have been comming here for years. We went one Sat In June after 2:00pm. The attendent said 20.00. We started to laugh and he said he wasnt kidding. He had said if we showed up earlier we would have had to pay 30.00. We just kept laughing at how outrageous the fee was. My husband asked how many people turned around. He said about 30 cars. So they really lost 450.00 for the day. There was hardly anyone there. A perfect beach day. So increased profits are not going to happen. No one will go. What will they have gained? Nolthing

My first time visiting Harvey's beach it was absolutely beautiful. I would so enjoy spending time with my young children at the speech. However a $30 per car parking charge is outrageous. We arrived after 2 PM on a Saturday with two cars. The attendants told us it was a $60 charge for the two of us. I know of numerous people that have gave great reviews on this beach I will not be letting each and every person I know how ridiculous the parking charges are... We are better off going to Misquamicut or Soundview...

The chill of the long winter has abated, so with some tasty take-out and our hoodies zipped up, we visited the beach yesterday at sunset. We line up alongside the other few cars regulars who come to take a stroll, walk the dog, play on the swings, read in their car or have an after work coffee and a smoke. It's quiet, and people are friendly but careful not to disturb one another. There were just enough clouds against the blue to stretch reds and corals across the sky. Ah-h-h-h.(If you need a restroom, come back in a month or so, when they'll be keeping them open for the season.)

Sandbars are the best! Going at high tide limits your options. With sand bars you have hundreds of yard of beach.

Harvey's Beach has been a family favorite for years. It's different because at low tide the beach extends way off into Long Island Sound. That right, Harvey's Beach sits in front of a huge sandbar which is exposed during low tide. That's something different and a lot of fun.
