o'malley's pub - weston, mo

Liked the ambience - truly Irish!! Great entertainment and great service! Drawbacks (not to us though) - no cell signal (it IS underground afterall!). Also all credit/debit machines down and had to pay cash (not a problem for us, but was for a few others). This is not a common occurrence thought.

Weston, Missouri is about 45 minutes north of Kansas City. O'Malley's Irish Pub is an underground craft beer place. I believe it is two or three levels below ground, in an old brewerey from the1800's. It's like going into a limestone brick cave. Some low arched ceilings, some high. I think this is were they aged the beer back then, as it needed some cooler temps. Live music on the weekends Drop Kick Ale is one of the local brews. You can order food from a sister restaurant above ground, and consume in the below ground bar. Very unique place. Would like to see it with the live music on the weekends.

Have been to Omally's before. Now we make day trips just to have lunch. Fun Irish type pub. Good food. Kinda quirky. If you go...be sure to see the cellar. It's a hike down but oh so worth it. Good lunch selections and good beers as well.

If you've never been, plan to stay a while, you must see the pub and the cellar, taste the fare, delicious fare and drink in the joy of the music and your fellow revelers. You'll travel down the dark, small passage and open into the warmth of home at the holidays with friends you just hadn't met yet and family that had been away much too long. If you're Irish, you are in your element, if you're not, you will be before you leave. LOVE THIS PLACE, Love the musicians, particularly Bob Reeder. Thank you O'Malleys.

I frequent this pub since I am not far. It is easy to find since Weston is a smaller town. The pub, restaurant, and brewery are located in a beautiful area. The beer is brewed here, and the pub is located underground. The beer is nothing spectacular, but I come for the atmosphere. I've never been to a place like this. You have to walk a few stairs to get downstairs, but once there it is very unique with the bar nestled in the back and a few tables scattered throughout. There is also a stage where musicians play. It is always way to loud though for my liking, since I like to drink a beer and talk with surrounding friends. Overall, it is definitely worth visiting if you are in the area.

Ate at O'Malley's twice during a recent visit to Weston. The reuben I ordered was very good; the salmon sandwich my friend had was also tasty, according to her. Where we were seated the first time was next to a very dusty display; service was passable. (However the price was right, and if you go to the Chamber of Commerce, you can get a coupon for a free appetizer or dessert with an entree.) Went back the next day- different area of the restaurant and different waitress. Much better experience and more free pie! Details to consider: You can eat inside or outside. There is a tour of the entire building and brewery on Sat. for $5. Beer sampler available. You can see the world's biggest ball of string!

We made the mistake of visiting Weston on a Monday when most of the shops and nearly all the restaurants were closed. However, we found that O'Malley's Pub was open and serving lunch. We ordered the banger bites for an appetizer along with the sampler of beer which is made on site. I especially liked the Gingerbeer. I had the traditional chicken salad for lunch with the poppy seed dressing. The chicken was creamy and delicious. Not many offerings on the children's menu (and 5.99 for Kraft mac and cheese, fries, and a drink was pricy in my humble opinion.) Would love to go back sometime in the evening and hear the Irish music!

One of the coolest places in Weston, Mo. Irish themed underground pub. $5 cover to listen to some awesome Irish Bands in the old Vineyards. The Beer on Tap is cold brews with an Irish accented taste. Also try out some of the Beer Drinks Very good stuff!

Weston is an absolutely beautiful, charming town. The historic district downtown almost has a small European village feel to it, but as the main attraction for my party, O'Malley's is simply okay. We first had dinner in the restaurant area. The weather was perfect and there was absolutely no seating for the outdoor area, which actually I am thankful for in retrospect. The indoor dining is fantastic, the area that we sat in had long wooden table with old rickety seats. Old time oil lamps lit each table and the atmosphere was almost perfect.I have seen some poor reviews for the service, but our waitress was top notch. She was swift in keeping us hydrated and fed. I even noticed that she was covering her fair share of tables, but still had the time to repeatedly check in on us.The food was pretty good, not great, but decent. While the menus list colcannon as a side, it is actually just mash potatoes, which do not come in a very generous serving. The mash potatoes, made from actual potatoes and not instant, are great. At least in the restaurant, the beer selection is lacking for a place connected to a brewery. You either had the choice between the swill that bud light drinkers consume to feel hip or stouts. I would have preferred maybe another option other than the Drop Kick Ale or stouts. After dinner we made our way over to the Pub. With live music on the weekend the pub charges a cover. If you eat at the restaurant you do not have to pay the cover, which is a nice plus! The organization of the place is beyond cool with multiple levels that split things apart, but accepting cover charges at the door, right next to the bathrooms and the tunnel that descends down is really annoying. Additionally, while the whole tunnels and stairway thing is neat, really more of a novelty, the smell is atrocious downstairs. Being a man who produces far worse smells, the musk of the fermentation tank level did not bother me, but all the women in our party and others made a fine racket over the moldy, mildew smell. It was actually pretty entertaining to hear someone walk in to the charming bottom level, but then complain.The bottom level is really cool, but the setup is really annoying, especially on the weekend. With all the people there and the large amounts of people unsure what to order (thanks signage!) getting a drink proved frustrating. Completely unrelated, but it would be nice to have another dartboard or two.This is the kind of place I will come back to during the week, but I think I will pass on the weekends. The bathroom situation is also pretty hilarious by the way. At least you can work off the beer calories while you trek three levels to urinate.You should really come see this place at least once, but once may be all that is required.

What an amazing place!!! It is an amazing slice of history with the tunnels and the descending stories. it is so nice and cool, especially in summmer. Have been there several times and love it. I wish that the tunnels were open so we could learn more about the slavery/Civil War days. Amazing place and so fun, love the Irish Festival! The steps might be hard for anyone with mobility issues. I saw someone struggling with a stroller. The steps go way down and are a little twisty, ok for most, but certainly not in a wheelchair or stroller! :)

I've gone here many times, and never been disappointed. This pub is unique in that it was constructed down in old stone beer vaults underground. There are actually three different areas in this pub. One small room with a bar and about six or eight booths that is halfway down into the vaults, another larger room with a flatscreen television and several large tables that is just above the lowest room (and a little quieter since it's not directly in line with the live music, and then a large vaulted stone room at the very bottom where there is another bar, and seating on the floor, or booths, or on an upper gallery overlooking the main floor and performance stage.The live music on weekends is really good. Michael Coakley (the owner) is a trained operatic tenor and will occasionally get on stage and sing a song or two with the bands, which is a real treat since he has a lovely singing voice. The beer selection is good, and their house microbrews are wonderful. They also carry a good selection of Irish whiskies and cider.They are a smoking-allowed establishment, so if you don't like that I would suggest sitting down on the floor in the largest room where it is easily avoided since the smoke rises up into the vaulted gallery area. Their restaurant upstairs has good food, and you can get pub grub down in the bar area for lunch or early dinner. Also, they own a B&B just around the corner in easy drunk-walking distance in case you want to stay overnight.Best Irish pub I've been to outside of Ireland. Can't recommend it enough.

Unique is probably the best word for this pub. You descend down a few stories of stairs and this little pub awaits. The beer was pretty good and was a great place to wind up a day of shopping in Weston. It was nice and cool after being in the hot weather outside. While it was unique the smoke got to me and it was not crowded when we were there. Like the place but did not fall in love with it.
