My group of golfers has been going to Gull Lake View Resort for 15 years. Five beautiful golf courses make up their rotation with all 5 courses being different styles. The East and the West courses sit right at the mail resort. The East course is tight, short, target type golf with undulating terrain and numerous water hazards. The last 2 holes at the East are 2 of the toughest holes on the entire resort. The West is a straightforward resort type course with some beautiful par 3's. Stonehedge North and South sit a few miles down the road. The North is a fantastic layout with 6 par 5's, 6 par 3's, and 6 par 4's. The South course is what I would call the cornerstone of the 5 courses as it is tree lined championship golf at its best. The 5th course, Bedford Valley, is 10-15 minutes away but it is worth the drive. Bedford Valley has hosted numerous Michigan Open's and many other tournaments and is a solid test of golf.My only complaint on the courses is I wish the greens were faster. We play there every July and at that time of the year the greens should be firm and fast. Instead, the greens are soft and slow. My guess is the crew doesn't want to lose the greens to the typical summer heat. It sure would be nice to see some quick greens though.The lodging at Gull Lake is a different story. I still give the resort 5 stars because we're not going there for the lodging. We're going there for the golf. However, people should know that the villas are VERY old. The decor and the overall look in general is very tired and in need of a major renovation. Much to their credit, Gull Lake is addressing this slowly but surely as they are in the midst of renovating a couple of their buildings. A focus on better beds and a more comfortable couch would be greatly appreciated.The staff at Gull Lake is deserving of 10 stars. I can't begin to describe how friendly and accommodating everyone on staff is. Gull Lake is owned by the Scott family and they do everything they can to treat you like you're one of the family. Gull Lake is the best bang for the buck golf resort in the entire state of Michigan.

I know it is a little late but this is a heads up for next years golf season. We stayed and played and enjoyed ourselves and would like to return. The golf course was in top shape and the greens were well cared for at this time of the season. We were there when it was peak colors and just beautiful. We stayed in the Villas which were quite handy but the beds left a lot to be desired. They were short and quite hard .They are building new lodging nearby but it looks like it may be a while until it is done.

Proximity of courses to lodging. Accomadations were very adequate. Food was reasonable in the clubhouse restaurants.

Except for the large screen, flat panel TV in the living room (none in the bedrooms) this place makes you feel as if you were back in the 70's.First "villa" we were assigned smelled like there had been a group of cigar smokers staying in it. It was on the first floor so you could access the forest preserve style grills out in back but it was very dark and had stained furniture. The kitchen was from the 1972 Sears catalog!Second "villa" was in a newer building and had no smell other than it being old and had much better lighting. Kitchen on that one was even older - circa 1962. This place is best for a group of guys going to golf for 3 or 4 days and who don't care about style or having a nicer kitchen or bathroom. Ladies will not be impressed with the dumpy old feeling this property exudes.

This location has five golf courses that are well maintained and scenic in the Kalamazoo MI vicinity. The rooms are basic but clean and spacious. The courses are appropriate for all levels from hackers to low handicappers. The clubhouse has good food - casual menu - and a bar. The prices are very reasonable. Great for groups for 2-3 day outings.

I was told by the course staff that they had a new chef now, and what a change he has made! The menu is smaller, yet adequate for everyone. She and I dined there last evening. We arrived there in time to enjoy the view with the flowering trees and lilacs in nearly full bloom. And golfers were just finishing up their rounds. Our waitress, Lisa, was attentive, very pleasant and informative. We found the salad bar to be small, yet adequate and everything on it was fresh and crisp. She ordered the chicken with hunter sauce, which was unexpected and quite tasty. I opted for the smaller cut of prime rib, rare. It was far larger than I expected and came with a bowl of jus. It just wasn't as rare as I like it, but I enjoy my beef mooing. Both meals were paired with baked potato and fresh vegetables, a medley of yellow and zucchini squash and carrots. Dinner was quite good, and dessert was peanut butter pie which was also delicious. Would I go back...absolutely. The meal was very good, the scenery beautiful, the staff helpful. What more can you ask for as a very fair price?

I actually like to rate this 3 1/2 stars because overall it's better than average, but has some downsides. I've been coming here annually with a group that varies between 28-40 golfers for decades. Gull Lake has 5 courses-the newest 2 excellent and about 3 miles away from the resort grounds. Different in character, one is heavily wooded and tight and the other is much more open on the front 9, a bit tighter on the back 9 but not as tight as the 1st course. Both Stonehedge courses are challenging. The South course is the toughest of the 5. 2 more courses are on the resort grounds. The Gull Lake East is the easiest of the 5 and has a mix of tight/open holes. It does have drainage problems on a couple of holes that they have been trying to improve for years. Plan on a sloppy course if there's a decent rain. Gull Lake West is heavily treed with a fair amount of water hazards which for my game seem to come into play more than the other courses. Not a lot of room for error on this one for most holes. Bedford Valley is the last course and @ 25 min away in Battle Creek. A difficult course, it has both tight and open holes. Not too many water hazards. Overall the greens at all courses are pretty good. Stonehedge courses have the best greens. Greens at all courses are much slower though compared to my home course which is a VERY challenging public course with a gold tee rating of 74.4 with a slope of 144. And the overall maintenance of the courses is above average although there have been a few times that drought/heavy rain has been a challenge for them. The resort accomodations are decent but not exceptional. There are practice putting greens near every bldg. Each bldg is 3 floors and room layout is 2 bedrooms/bathrooms with a small kitchen and central lounge area. Furniture is comfortable and clean but nothing fancy. Rooms are cleaned everyday by staff. Nice thing is they allow you to bring grills so you can BBQ outside on the grounds. Resort restaurant has an excellent breakfast and a very good value compared to my home urban area. Lunch is your typical hot dog/hamburger thing. Dinners are OK to good but not as good as breakfast. Nearby restaurants are ok but nothing special. You have to go into Battle Creek or, better yet, Kalamazoo for a really good dinner (hence why we BBQ sometimes). Sounds pretty good so far but here are the downsides. #1, Water quality is terrible. Safe to drink but very poor taste and very hard so after a shower you have a soapy feeling. Plan on bringing some bottled water for coffee, cooking, drinking, etc. Dinner restaurants-see above (You have to travel for a really good dinner.). Overall value is very good compared to my urban home area, but there is the golf cart "thing" mentioned in other reviews. With the exception of Bedford Valley and Stonehedge North, you're not going to be walking these hilly courses unless you're in pretty good shape even using a hand cart. In all the years we've been going there, it's pretty rare to see anyone walking. Why not build it into the price and offer a discount for the few walkers? Better marketing for sure.

Five first class golf courses, clean comfortable lodging at the courses, good food at the East Course Grille. Friendly, accommodating staff, good reasonable food on site. But best of all, your choice of five premier golf courses with near perfect greens, well groomed fairways, interesting courses. If you want a great place for a weekend of golf with a large group, this is the place.

Everyone was friendly and nice. Golf courses were in good shape. We played 3: Gulf View North and South and Stonehedge South. We wanted to play the North course there but they were booked. The condos were clean and accommodating.the staff even set up some tables and chairs so we could have drinks and appetizers outside by the putting green outside our condo. This was my second trip, but the group has been staying here for several years.

From the courteous staff to the well-kept course, this is the place to play in southwest Michigan. We've got a lot of choices for golf in the Kalamazoo area, but GLV is my favorite. I prefer the East course, but the west is fun too. The people that work there are awesome folks. They'll do anything they can to make you happy. The food is good too.

5 very good golf courses with terrain, water, trees, doglegs, and plenty of challenge. Stay at the villas. Eat at the East restaurant. Be sure to play all 5 courses.

Beautiful courses, but it ends there. Golf package does not include golf CARTS. There is an additional $15. charge for every 18 holes. I asked about this and was told by employee's that quite a few other people have complained. They also said, they have brought this up to the owner. They said he was not interseted.I came home from golf outting with the object of finding golf specials to beat Gull Lake.When I checked some of the other packages in Michigan I was surprised to find not only cheaper prices, but a lot more for my money! These were not specials either. There great up north courses, two nights on the weekend, unlimited golf included CARTS, breakfast, $15.00 food voucher, and a sleeve of balls. I would never go back to Gull Lake! The prices were cheaper at the other courses too!The condo was filthy too. Dental flossbetween sink and toilet. Windows you could not see thru. No tv's in bedrooms. Nothing to serve a meal, bowls or platters. Not much of anything in the kitchen.

Came last July and heading back this year to meet up with some lifelong friends and some new ones to. If you are looking for somewhere cheap to play and stay this is it. The courses compared to back home in England are in a different league. The accomodation althought slightly outdated is fine with four queens beds two showers and a kitchen with lounge. Plenty of golf karts available and staff around to help.A great place to take a load of friends or work colleagues and entertain them.

I hate golf it is borring with a capital "B". The dinner was amazing the chef is creative and the presentation was topped by the flavor.

East is a lot of fun and unique. West is a little more typical. Stonehedge and North Course are both different and fun/challeging as well. The four course package is great for an extended stay.
