We were looking a fill a little extra time that we had and decided to check out the Eisenhower home and farm. I'm so glad we checked it out although wish we had allowed a little more time. The house was truly a walk through several time periods and the beautiful walk up to the barn was relaxed and fun to hear the birds singing so loudly. Well worth it!

A great national park in tribute to one of the greatest leaders the world has ever known. September is always a great time to visit with the WWII encampment they host.

I'm old enough to remember President Eisenhower. The house is modest compared to the luxury presidents who followed him live/lived in. I was surprised at how "homey" the home was. The grounds are beautiful; his golf green was smaller than I expected. We happened to be there on WWII weekend and tents were erected all over the grounds. Enactors were gracious and generous with their time. It was a pleasant event that we weren't expecting. If it's WWII weekend and you're there, take the time to visit the house and grounds; you won't regret it.

This is by far my favorite site in Gettysburg. Part of the tour is guided and then you are on your own. You get to go through the Presidents home and wonder the huge property at your own pace. Beautiful and breathtaking views.

The Eisenhower house seems like a really great place under normal circumstances. But it just so happened they were doing a major paint and renovation job during our visit and most rooms were either empty or over-cluttered with the furniture from all the other empty rooms. We were left with guides telling us what the rooms should look like. And while I appreciated the effort, it was not the same. The on-site store in the visitors center was also being redone. If you're going to visit, I would strongly recommend that you wait until at least March of 2015 when the whole project is complete.

We recently took a tour of the Eisenhower Farm while it was decorated for Christmas. It was a very nice, enjoyable and informative visit. I would highly recommend it.You have to take a shuttle to the farm from the Gettysburg Visitor’s Center. Get you tickets at the Visitor’s Center and take the 10 minute ride to the farm. We went during the week so it was not very crowded. It was very nice to see the house decorated for the holidays, and decorated much as it was when the President and Mamie were there. The guides on the tour (both Park Rangers and volunteers) were awesome. Very friendly, informative and happy to answer questions. The house tour starts on the first floor in the formal living room. From there you can tour at your leisure the upstairs and other rooms in the house. After the house tour, we wandered around the farm to see the barn, garage, guest house and Farm 2. We went in December, so there were not any additional Ranger programs. Still was a great tour and very enjoyable time. We look forward to going back to see the other programs. Allow about three hours total for the visit. Tickets were $7.50 for adults (includes tour and bus ride).

My 5 year old granddaughter and I visited the Eisenhower Farm today (just the home due to the chilly temperature) with friends from church. We were taken to the farm by shuttle (required) and were greeted by a very knowledgeable guide. The grounds of the farm are absolutely beautiful, very simple and humble. There aren't any elaborate gardens or landscaping, everything is very natural. The home itself appears as though the Eisenhowers just stepped out and will be back soon. The rooms are simply and tastefully decorated in a way that makes them comfortable and welcoming. The home provides great insight into what humble and unpretentious people the Eisenhowers were. The tour provides insight also into what a big part of local life the Eisenhowers were; where they shopped and how they interacted with the local citizens. This tour covers a great number of interests: decor, political history, architecture, Gettysburg history. I can't wait to go again in the Spring to see the second farm too.

We visited the Eisenhower Farm on 12/1/14. The Christmas tree was up in the house and gave it a festive feel. The furniture, pictures and artifacts in each room allow a glimpse into the life of Ike and Mamie. Personal items like Mamie's cigarette box, Ike's desk and books are on display along with priceless gifts received from heads of state and international dignitaries. Also on the site are several cars and golf carts that were used by the president can be seen through the windows in the barn as well as a small office where the Secret Service set up command while at the farm. There's a short film that plays about every 10 minutes in the small gift shop along with some other items on display. I would have liked to have seen more pictures or even film of the family during time they spent at the farm, and I would have loved to see the cars and carts up close rather than through the window but it's still a great place to visit and experience a personal and interesting piece of presidential history.

On a quaint hill looking over the still battlefields of Gettysburg is this lovely farm which Dwight and Mamie lived after he retired for the first time from the Army and then again after they retired from the White house. They raised cattle as it was a working farm to bring in income. Later after they both pasted it was turned over to the national park service for all to visit. There is only bus transportation from the Civil War Museum and Center to the location and back no private parking.

I was astounded at how humble the home of former President Eisenhower was. It says volumes about this man and what and how he prioritized himself. A very humble man, his bedroom was not as large as my closet. Very 50's, of course, but there is not a single aspect of post war modernism in this setting. Eisenhower was a vastly better President than he is generally given credit as having been. Go to his home and you'll better understand this man for sure.

There were only three of us for the tour, so the guide gave us a detailed tour of the house. Couldn't have been a better tour!! He told us stories and details about the Eisenhower family.

I was excited to see this house. I grew up in Fremont, OH home to president Hayes. This was going to be the second president home I have ever visited. It's a very quant home. I learned a lot about Eisenhower. They have a tour guy give you background on the house before you go in. Once in the house our park ranger was kind of creepy but they kick you loose and you get to tour the rest of the house and grounds on your own. The gift shop was kind of basic. They could use some more merch and marketing ideas but it was a neat tour. You can only get there buy bus from tourist center at Gettysburg. Make sure you book it early we booked it at 4 and the last bus leaves at 515. We only got a short time but still was worth it. Tickets are only like 7 bucks. Check it out.

This is worth going to as an adjunct to Gettysburg but probably not for a one off visit. The house is fully furnished but a little Spartan and the guides commentary very limited and uninspiring.....as opposed to say Monticello, where it is on another level as far as professionalism. My favourite element was in the small area where one left, which contained a small museum and a film depicting Ike's life. You began to get a feel of the man as someone that tried to achieve compromise and was a man of simple tastes and limited ego...compared with some of his contemporaries. A shuttle bus takes you from Gettysburg Visitor Centre to the house and is only about a ten minute ride.
