We were looking for a mountain that could be both challenging for our older son and also be a good beginner mountain for our younger son who began snowboarding this year. Spring Mountain was the closest mountain to us just off Northeast Extension Exit 31 Lansdale PA and we are so glad we found it. We went twice on Gentlemen Wednesdays and the lift ticket were only $25.00 for our oldest son and our 4 year old was only $5.00.. The staff was friendly and helpful. We have our own snowboards so we didn't need rentals. We eat at one of the food locations at Spring Mountain and had a good lunch...no complaints...It was a nice middle of the week snowboard day...We visited Camelback and Montage several times this season and perhaps the slopes at Spring Mountain weren't as challenging as those 2 Mountains but it was half the traveling time and you can't beat Gentleman Wednesdays lift tickets.....It was a little quaint mountain..closest mountain to us...if you are a experienced, dare devil skier or snowboarder you wouldn't really be looking to go to Spring Mountain...Travel the extra 2 hours and extra traffic and go North...Glad we found Spring Mountain and hope to go back for their March 15th Anniversary Event...It was good for what we were looking for...

My son went with his sixth grade class event snow tubing and had a terrible time.1. Disorganized and unsafe - 5 minutes in someone broke their nose. My son hurt his leg. The runs are not safe. Too steep and have to bail out fast before you hit the airbags at the end. Entire walking ground area was all ice and people were falling down,.2. Parents not allowed to view or take pictures without a ticket, meaning we couldnt see what was happening and my son said there was much shoving and pushing and bullying going on in the lines with all the people there.3.My son was there for 4 hours and only got to go down 4x as a 40-50 minute wait each time as it was so disorganized and way too crowded and folks were cutting in line and no one controlling it. There were only 2 lanes for tubing (and on a group event night!), and then one shut down as the person broke their nose on it. 4. Employees were rude. They gave my son a baby tube once he could not fit on (he's over 5ft tall) and was dangerous to go down. When my son protested he was told to 'deal with it'.5. The lodge was run down and dirty - but the pub was new but the food not so great. 6. There were no changing rooms and the bathrooms were filthy.WOULD NOT EVER EVER GO BACK! Place needs a major overhaul and to be checked for safety standards or shut down!May be less expensive than other places and closer if you live nearby but NOT WORTH IT.

We paid for lessons for our two teens, and the instructor was so great with both of them. They learned within the hour, and we all had a fabulous time skiing together afterward. The staff inside and outside were friendly and helpful.

Check out specials for skiing every night for the kids and upstairs in The Powder Pig Pub enjoy the adult specials. I had the French Onion Soup and the Brie, bacon and pear toastie. Sure made those 4 hours fly by while the kids had their fun. The staff was so friendly and engaging, Andrew is creating some great grub while Gail wets your whistle..

We have gone to Spring Mountain many times with family and friends. It has always been for Snow tubing. We were happy with the experience. The food choices are also fine.For Snow tubing this place is great.

I've gone to Spring Mountain a couple of times with my family despite the fact that it is small and completely rundown. It's close to home so we suck it up. Each time I've been shocked at how rudely their customer service people behave. They are completely unhelpful and defensive no matter what the issue. This is the same feedback that I've heard from many people. I'm done with them. I'd much rather give my money to people that at least pretend to care about their customers.Additionally, the facilities are extremely old and filthy.

With the ski season approaching I figured I would revisit my review of Spring Mountain and provide an update. After learning to ski at Spring Mountain 5 years ago Spring still remains my kids' favorite local place to ski and ride. Spring is perfect for beginners and young families. My girls (now 8 and 11) can ski there all day and have a great time. Sure it's small and not very challenging for hardcore skiers but that doesn't mean you can't have a blast there. For my kids it's a manageable and friendly place to enjoy winter. It's also cheaper, typically less crowded, and has better ski/snowboarding instruction than other mountains near Philly. If you are looking to dip your tip into snowsports or introduce your kids to snowsports this is a great place to start.Tips: 1) If you have progressed past the bunny hill and are looking to avoid some of the lift lines head to the "back side" runs (right side of the map). Since many of the patrons are first timers or in lessons this side of the hill is usually quiet.2) Food options are a mix of the in-house cafeteria and food trucks on the weekends but can get crowded at lunch. Do yourself a favor and take your lunch break early (11:30) and get back on the slopes by noon. While the lesson groups and everyone else break for lunch you'll enjoy an hour of shorter lift lines and open slopes.3) Get there early and don't stay too late. Spring does not tend to get busy until midday. If you arrive when it opens, take and early lunch, and head out around 2pm you can avoid most of the crowd wave (and still get 5-6 hours of skiing in).

Spring mountain is just way too cool. the hill itself is like 600 feet above sea level in the hilly area of Montgomery county by Schwenksville. I thought I would try snowboarding for the first time. After all its not a thousand foot mountain what's the harm? Well after three hours of falling forwards backwards sideways and getting snow everywhere up my nose on my glasses down my pants. I gave it up when a six year old kid yelled at me to get out of his way. I still think its neat that a little ski resort is in this part of the area.

Great time on the Full Monty tour. Staff very professional and well trained. Friendly and engaging. Had a great time. Very well designed course with challenging but attainable bridges and excellent zip line rides. Would recommend highly.

You have to know going in that a "mountain" in Montgomery County PA with 9 trails is not going to satisfy expert level skiiers. But it's a good, close place to take your kids to learn how to ski. A $65 package for rental, lesson and beginner ski hill for a full weekend day is a good deal. The kids had a great time, and by the end of the day, could ski all the way down the beginner hill without falling. I didn't have to worry that they would have to endure any intermediate trails. I've seen complaints of rude staff, but I found everyone very nice and helpful. Maybe some of the teenagers working could have been a little more focused--but they are teenagers putting person after person (including tons of beginners) on the lift all day long--what do you expect?I would definitely take the kids back.

Tried to sign up my fourth grader for the free snowboard lesson and equipment rental package for first timers. Due to confusing signage, I ended up in the rental line first. Since I had not gone through the lesson line first I was charged for rentals. When I asked why I was being charged, the young cashier said "Take your report card to the line for lessons and they will credit you there when you sign up." However, when I presented at the line for the free lesson I was told that they would not give a credit for the rental since "you have to go through the lesson line first to get the free package." When I spoke with the manager [the owner, it turns out] and explained to her that it was her staff member who told me they would credit me on the back end (otherwise I would not have finished in the rental line first), she became immediately defensive and said she checked with her staffer. The owner insisted that I was not told about a credit. Upon my rebuttal, the owner confronted me with "Are you saying [the staffer] is a liar?"Honestly, I think the poor young girl was afraid to admit a mistake to her pit bull owner, but the real point is that the policy is absurd, and, in the name of customer service, the owner should have just allowed the credit to let our family have a positive experience and enjoy the day.There are plenty of other places to take my family to ski, and I won't spend a dime at Spring Mount. But I will share my poor experience far and wide.

This place is very small only has 3 lifts but only 2 take you to the "top" which is not really that high. It is good for beginners and children to learn how to ski and snowboard..

even though it was expensive but was totally worth it if you are looking for a controlled adventure.

Our first zipline/canopy tour experience was at Camelback Mountain/CBK Adentures. We had so much fun on that tour (2 adults, a 15yr old, an 18yr old), we decided to try the one closer to our home at Spring Mountain. Even though Spring Mountain is small, the website proved to show a similar and exciting tour experience. The price seemed (surprisingly) much higher than Camelback, so I was happy to see an online coupon deal. We would not have paid the higher price for the smaller course, but there are a few differences that might be important to some people, especially those with younger children or first timers. At Camelback/CBK Adventures you are taught for 20-30 minutes how to harness yourself onto the lines and maneuver the course on your own. It's alot of information, but then you practice the basic skills on a mock canopy set up. You learn to double lock yourself in, move through the obstacle, then hook onto the next obstacle before unhooking yourself from the last cable. So....you are always secured at all times. Lots of bits of critical information, but once you practice, you quickly get the hang of it, even the younger kids. The Guides watch as you practice, and the Guides stay on the ground and watch you above as you continue to do the full tour. If you are ever not double hooked, you will get a reminder from a Guide. You are up so high, it's almost second nature to double check that you are locked in correctly. Also, at Camelback, no helmets are required. At Spring Mountain, please note that THE GUIDES do this harnessing for you every step of the way.......there are two Guides with you at all times during your tour, one to hook you up, and one to unhook you as you move through the course. Helmets are also required (and provided). My son did the Full Monty tour with a friend who had never done a tour before. For my son (15).......this felt like a step down since he was used to handling his own harness. He was also not so thrilled about wearing a helmet after being able to do the tour without one at Camelback. His friend, however, loved it from beginning to end, since it was all new to him. They both still had a great time........over 2 hours in the tree tops on a beautiful day with lot's of ziplines. My son said the tour was still challenging.......there were some obstacles that were different than Camelback. Given the choice, he would love to return to Camelback. But since Spring Mountain is literally 3 miles from our home, I'd love for him to enjoy this event again, but having the Guides do the work seems to disinterest him and take away some of the experience and fun. If you live close, have smaller children, are trying this for the first time or feel really unsure about handling the harness locks on your own (it's not difficult, but it is critical that it is done correctly), then Spring Mountain will provide a unique experience and you can leave the safety issues to the Guides. The regular price might reflect the fact that there are 2 Guides with your group at all times. If you have done other canopy tours, then I think you will be disappointed at Spring Mountain if you are looking for the same experience. All in all, ziplining through the mountain tops is always fun. Final Note: We visited Spring Mountain in October, during their "off season". Nothing was open except for the zipline/canopy tours.........so, no restaurant, no food, everything was closed down. As a parent who hung around until the tour was over, I brought a book to read and found an empty table to sit at. I was surprised (but grateful) to find the bathroom had a roll of papertowels, one working faucet, and an overflowing trashcan. Remember...this was their off-season. I have been there in the winter during snowboard/ski season when the place is rocking, music blaring, tons of kids, fireplaces roaring and lots of energy in the air. Don't expect that in the summer/fall months. Still, we love Spring Mountain in our backyard.

I always wanted to try ziplining, so when we got an online coupon deal I couldn't pass it up! My husband and I did the Full Monty tour which took about 2-1/2 hours with a group of a dozen people. Our guides were friendly, helpful and encouraging. We never felt scared or in danger because we were always attached by our "lifeline." The ziplining itself was fun and exhilarating. There were a few challenges on the ropes course that were intimidating (walking the swaying bridge even with handholds was nerve-wracking for hubby) and crossing a thick rope hanging from our hands and legs was tough but provided a serious "Yay me!" feeling once reaching the other side. Though most of the people on our tour wore shorts, I would recommend wearing long pants because some of the course has potential to provide rope burn. We also brought along a small backpack to carry water. We did purchase the $7/pp photo package and were glad we did, we would do it again but next time we will also bring our own small camera to provide some extra shots. Another thing we didn't plan but worked out in our favor is the fact that we were the last people in line to go on every challenge. That gave us the opportunity to watch everyone's else's technique to see what worked and what didn't for planning our crossing. We will definitely go again and take our kids when they are old enough.* A note to reviewers who say they had a more amazing zipline tour in Costa Rica or whatever exotic location, of course you did, I would be disappointed if you didn't! But we only had to drive 45 minutes to have this experience and it was wonderful!!!
