This place is located in an old Train Station in Sayre, which was a main hub for the Lehigh Valley back in the day. It had a ton of great train memorabilia, but also some other interesting pieces of Sayre's past. One such interesting artifact, Robert Packer's examining table, was found in the attic and put on display recently - very appropriate, given it's proximity to Robert Packer Hospital. Definitely worth visiting!

Recently visitied the musuem on their model open day. Whilst it is a small musuem, I found it really interesting with some very interesting photos of and details of the life of Sayre. On the day I visited there were model trains running on fixed display boards, which I enjoyed looking at. Also on the day I was there they had a man playing the piano with some really jolly background music. Whilst upstairs they had a local choir of teenage children, singing the most delightfully in tun.Christmas carols and other songs. I thought they were amazingly talented. There was also some other trader stalls upstairs on the day. The people who were running the musuem came across as real friendly and were happy to chat about things to me.This was my first time in this musuem, and whilst you could walk around it in 2-3 minutes, I would whole heartedly say,if you have any interest in mechanics or finding out about the history of Sayre, slow down, take your time to look at and read the different pieces of information, try and imagine how long it would take to machine the crank arm shown in one of the large photos. As this musuem really does capture the history of how Sayre came about and got its name, along with information regarding a Dr Donald Guthrie whose family name appears to me to be one of the major medical providers today. Overall I think this is a great local musuem, which has captured its founding history, but is also living today.Thank you all for a wonderful visit. One note to bear, the musuem is volunteer run, and is only open at limited time, I think Wednesday evenings and Saturdays 10.00am to 4.00pm. So if you do fancy a trip to it, probably best to give them a call first to find out if it will be open.

Selective days and times that museum is open. Very historic site in downtown Sayre, PA and should be a stop if the days and times work for you. Have done a good job updating and renovating the station and continue to do so. Nice overview of the history of Sayre and the contributions made by the railroad and other local businesses to the community. Donations appreciated. Went on Sat. May 3, 2014.Web Site - (http://www.sayrehistoricalsociety.org/)

I was actually impressed with how much information and how many artifacts this museum had. It was nice having something in Sayre to show my boyfriend when I brought him to "meet the folks."
