worlds end state park

I have been coming to WESP for over 40 years. I live only 40 minutes away so it is a short trip. Myself and my outdoor companions have hiked, mountain biked, skied and stayed at the rustic cabins annually, often multiple times. I usually avoid the summer crowds and prefer winter, early spring and late fall. The park may not have the "prestige" of its neighbor Rickett's but it also doesn't have the crowds and the cabins are the rustic style, not the modern "condo" style, which are more quaint and less expensive. My only lament is that the park is not quite as rustic as it used to be years ago and the rangers are more constables than conservationists. I once asked a young officer about trail conditions and he responded that he didn't know because he doesn't hike, very disappointing. Be sure to bring firewood if you intend on a campfire as it is not always provided or available. Likewise the nearest store is quite a ways so bring all your pantry items. Bug juice for the summer is essential. Cabin checkout is 10am so we often book an extra night just to stay the day and ease out of the cabin, shower house available. Come to WESP and clear your head, rest your mind and enjoy the great outdoors.

Situated about a half hour from Ricketts Glen State Park, it is a great place to spend your weekend. The campground offers electric hookups and the bath houses are beautiful. We stayed in the pet area just across the road from the creek. The pet walking area is across the road, but getting there and walking the dog was more of a pleasure than a trial. We visited Ricketts Glen one day and spent the others playing in the creek or hiking the trails the others. The double green trail is very verdant and beautiful and good for just about any hiker beginner or experienced. If you want to hike up to the overlook, beware the trail is very steep, especially coming down. I hiked the Loyal Sock trail coming down on our first visit, but skipped it & took the road on our second. Have to say, when visiting Ricketts Glen next time, this is where we will stay :)

The Rock Garden is a group of outcroppings and crevasses near one of the overlooks--this is a great place for kids and adults who like to climb!

A great place to view the fall scenery. A trip up to Canyon Vista or High Knob overlook is a must see for the 1st time traveler, especially in the fall.

Worlds End has amazing views and great trails. I love the beach in the summer and the deep swim holes. Picnic areas for a nice family outing.

Park is picturesque and well maintained. Group camping area is a little tight, but appears as though it is a work in progress. Given the positive look of everything else, I would expect that it should keep improving. Bathrooms were clean and maintained well. The signage could use some improvement - coming in after dark is not the easiest. Ranger stopped by and was informative and helpful.

This was our first time going to World's End as we were piggy backing it in with a trip to eat at the nearby Forksville General Store. My husband, two children and our dog had a wonderful time. The waterfalls and stream probably were the highlight of the day. We all enjoyed the scenic overlook and the rock playground. I highly suggest stopping in the visitor's center and letting the rangers direct you to the best suited trail for your family.

Highly recommend swimming in Loyalsock Creek by park, hiking trails starting at park are great, rustic cabins are an awesome experience, check out the labeled garden behind the park office-really cool

Our most recent trip to World's End State Park was a bit rainy, but it is still a beautiful and peaceful place to visit.

The rugged geography of this region has been shaped by the chilly clear waters of the Loyalsock Creek. This is your chance to get up close and personal with it. The park is suitable for a casual visit and there is even a roped-off beach on the river. The trails up the sides of the river gorge are rugged. If you hike the wilderness you will need hiking shoes, long pants, bug spray and drinking water.

We went for a whole week!!! Our son, kobey made it so much more interesting and fun!!! The things he showed us and the way he showed us was "priceless"...... he is 12 years old... we had a fantastic time and the sights-WOW!!! We will go there again, it was a dream come true and my son made it more worth while, with his wonderful smiles, all day long!!!

We visited World's End with our 2 children and their Grandma and Grandpoppy. We all had a blast. We started out with a picnic lunch sitting under one of their covered picnic areas. They have grills you can use if you bring in charcoal and everything else you'd need. After lunch we packed up and hiked a ways up the creek and found a private spot. We waded around and had a blast. The kids found an area where there was a current that pushed them. My wife stayed in one spot and I in another and the kids went back and forth riding the current. They loved it. Will definitely try to get back here next time we're in PA during summer.

We have been tent camping for the past 30 years, and had never been to Worlds End State Park. Love the mulch beds to put your tent on! So much softer to sleep on and walk on. The bath house was clean and had plenty of hot water for the showers. So many trails to hike on, and lookouts that you need to pick and choose what you want to see, and how many miles you want to hike. Also had a recycling area, next to the trash dumpsters.

This is a very nice park in a remote corner of PA. The views up top are incredible. You can drive or hike up. The hike is strenuous and not for the everyday person who just likes to take it easy and stroll along. There is swimming in a designated area or downstream at your own risk. Its very rocky if you decide to go it alone and I would definitely bring water shoes. There's plenty of parking and picnic areas. There;s a concession stand but I dont know what they have or the prices. Also you can rent cabins or do tent camping. Dogs are allowed in park and on hiking trails.

Went camping here with some friends last month, we had a GREAT time. Our activity for the day was the World's End Trail. This trail is TOUGH, it climbs 500 feet in the first 1/4 mile, which means really, really steep. The view from the overlook at that point is great. The remaining three miles of trail were a nice walk, but there aren't any more highlights or overlooks, just some nice woods and meadows. Wish I had a bathing suit when I got down off of the mountain for the swim area!We also drove up to the one overlook, which was fantastic (much more expansive than the overlook on the trail we had taken). The campsite was clean, padded with mulch, and had a solid picnic table and fire ring. The bathrooms were quite nice as far as campsite bathrooms go. Firewood, ice cream, hamburgers, and other goodies can be purchased at the snack bar by the swim area. Other souvenirs can be purchased at the ranger station.At night, my buddy and I opted to sleep outside, where we could admire the bazillion stars in view.Overall, a great park, I'll be back to try some other trails!
