The Legends Golf Course at Parris Island is well kept, very challenging and most enjoyable to play. Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the Starter. The staff inside at sign in counter and lunch counter are very pleasant Don't miss the chance to play The Legends!! You will go back

We play here quite often and this is our favorite military golf course. Extremely well kept and golfer friendly. Can't be beat.

I say natural because there are no houses to worry about when golfing here. The trees are beautiful and big, lots of birds and of course alligators even on a cloudy rainy day that we had. If one wanted, this course allows walkers and it appears to be walker friendly. Club house is small but has everything you need with friendly service people. A course to play. The one problem is getting into the base. We took 20 minutes to get processed while our other friends took 45 minutes and the alert is not high. Can put a person off.

Yes it is a long way to get to the course once you go through the guard gate. You get a feel what it is like living on a military base and may intimidate some people. However, once you get out to the course, the experience is very good. The Pro shop folks are very courteous and helpful. The course is simple at first but then offers a few challenging holes. Some nice scenic views too. You may here some would be Marines getting "motivated" especially on hole #s 11 and 12. Just focus on your shot!

This course was a real pleasant surprise as we are so used to golfing within one housing development or another. The scenery is fantastic, no houses to hinder nature's best, the tee boxes are pristine and the staff is exceptionally friendly. The clubhouse has a full range of amenities including a snack bar that is open from 7:00 am to 2:00 PM, a robust pro shop with plenty of goodies and club fitting service. Just remember it is SC and shade is hard to come by so plan accordingly. One more note, this is on a military base so make sure you have your ID, car insurance and registration. Enjoy!!

A very well kept course which is not only scenic but challenging too. Good bunkers and plenty of water hazards. Well worth the trip to play here amidst the backdrop of Marine bootcamp!

One of my all-time favorites, now even better with the rebuilt/renovated clubhouse. GREAT track. Warm up on the first three holes, and then the real fun begins. Excellent mix of short and long par 4s that require precision more than length. Lots of water (and alligators) on this very natural course with no homes- they didn't move much dirt to build the Legends. Watch out for the brutal combination of #8 (par 4) and #9... one of the best par 5s you'll ever play. Great tidal marsh views behind #13, where the course makes a 180 and (often) plays into the wind on the 5 final holes. Save some strength for the very difficult 17th. Decent practice area... the only one we played that had any grass left. Great pro and club fitting/repair facility. Reasonably priced and net proceeds benefit the Marines and their families. Relaxed security makes it much easier and faster to come aboard Parris Island, but remember to bring your driver's licence, registration and auto insurance certificate, and plan an extra 15 minutes just in case.

Have been to Hilton Head a few times and wanted to play a different course so we took a trip to Parris Island and played the Legends. Well worth the 45 minute ride from Hilton Head. Instead of paying $100 + green fees on some courses, we were happy with the $44.00 they charged, and that was on a Sunday. Teed off about noon, and the course was wide open. Never had to wait at any hole. The greens were perfect. The staff was friendly. After golf you were on the honor system, you helped yourself to as many beers that you wanted and paid in the pro shop on the way out. You will need to make reservations and have your drivers license, vehicle registration and proof of insurance to get past the the guard upon entering the base.

The Armed Forces Golf Championship was held here this September and it was awesome. Russ always keep the course in great shape and it is now ranked the number 5 golf course in the department of defense. Andy, the golf pro is awesome and the customer service is great with Casey and Stacey. The issue of course is with food sometimes as the grill closes early but is open for breakfast and lunch. They cook a bit slow but the food is good. After 2 pm make sure to have some food in your bag. This course is deceptively challenging and good course management is a must. All golfers should play this course and yes it is open to the public! Also the plans have been approved for a new clubhouse in 2014.
