This place was packed over the weekend. My friend and I went during the week and there was hardly anyone there. Try to time it right - unless you like crowds and not being able to find parking. Bathrooms closed during this time, so be prepared to use the woods.

This is a relatively easy hike that most family members will be able to handle. It is very scenic. Come early in the summer months. It is a very popular trail and even though there is a lot of parking the spaces often are full. There is a fee for parking in the lot , but free on the road.

After spending 2 days on the slopes at Heavenly we took a day off to drive around beautiful Lake Tahoe. Great idea. I'd never visited Lake Tahoe and so we took every opportunity to get out of the car to take in the vista, breathe the fresh air, and stand in awe of the special conifers that grow on this mountainous terrain. Stopping at Eagle Falls Trail was a great way to spend time and enjoy the views from on high. At this time of year it can be icy so take care, especially on the rocky path over the bridge.

Parking at a cost parking near trail head, Free for parking on roadside. It gets pretty busy with multiple trail heads here. We try to plan to come at offish times The first part of walk t the falls is fairly small (<0.3 mile, 10 minutes) gradual climb to Eagle Falls. This is for those who cannot go far. Bring picknick if you have time to linger.Once once crosses the bridge, the trail continues to Eagle Lake. This part of hike is strenuous (1.0 mile, 40 minutes). There's view of Lake Tahoe on the way. We've done this hike several times in the winter The crowds are fine though it's more slippery. Fine for small kids who can walk and like an adventure. You'll need to carry toddlers. The crowd is ok and Lake is beautiful. Bring water and if you can some snacks/food (yummy expensive sandwich at Obexers in Homewood or Tahoma Market while you enjoy the lake) to bribe yourselfs to make it to the lake. Just see another review mention bears - we've never seen any hiking. If you have time and energy, go all the way to Eagle Lake. you won't be disappointed. I'd say give your self a 1/2 day for this adventure. if you have more time walk down to the lake on the Vikingsholm trial (the house is open for tours in the summer)

Nice waterfalls here and only a short hike from the carparkwe went during winter so the falls had started to freeze over but so had the paths which made for slow going

We fell in love with the Eagle Falls trail. Definitely one of our top five hikes (and the snow made it that much lovelier)!

Make sure you have good non-slippery shoes is you are hiking in the winter time. The lake at the top of the mountain gets frozen - some families bring their ice skates there

Great two hour hike to a hidden lake with lots of beautiful scenery on the way. We did it in December and it was really quiet and peaceful. Might be a little dangerous with bears, but thankfully we didn't see any.

Very easy, well marked hike to a nice little lake. If you are expecting falls like Yosemite you may be disappointed. This is a great hike for non hikers. Pretty easy walk, several places to stop and great scenery and surrounding. We found most of the people on the trail to be friendly and having a good time. The best tip i had about this was to get there early. The parking lot is pretty small so you will likely end up parking at a turnout up or down the road from the entrance. Later in the day the place is a mass of cars and people walking to get to the trail head. I am appreciative of the "Go Early" tip and want to pass that along. Good go.

A steady hike, with some more difficult areas, but nothing to prevent one from taking the time to reach the end. In is the uphill climb, so out is a lot easier. The reflections in the still lake surface mid to later morning were a wow!.It was highly recommended as a favorite for locals and visitors and we agree.

I love to hike, unfortunately my husband and kids 6, 8, do not share in my love of hiking. They come along anyways, but I always have to find something quick enough and with a great payoff! This hike, was perfect. Some parts are a little steep, and it gave my kids a bit of a work out. A lot of shaded parts too.We were lucky to find parking in the picnic area parking lot, where the trail head is located. We arrived around 2 pm and the parking lot and road were FULL of cars, but the trail was not very congested. We passed a few groups going up and down, but had the trail to ourselves most of the way. We took the loop trail and made it to the lake after an hour or so. The falls were very weak, but man, the lake is absolutely GORGEOUS!!! We crossed over the little boulders and had a picnic and relax time on the little bit of sand there is.The return trip back was only about 35 minutes.I really recommend this hike, to beginners and to families with kids that are a bit lazy like mine! Haha...

When we visited Lake Tahoe, we asked a local resident to suggest the places we should go. This was the place he recommended and it turned out to be the highlight of our trip. The whole trail we did in July was very pleasant and not overly long. In addition, most places were shaded; not too hot, nor humid. The only thing is there is no Bathroom facility available except for the Porta Potty. Still, the place is worth the visit.

This was a great first day morning activity as we were tired from work, travel and adjusting to altitude. The brief hike to the lake has enough elevation change to merit sturdy shoes and gets your heart pumping. There is a pretty stream called the waterfall along the way that is charming and would be a lovely spot for a picnic on a low crowd day. The lake is idyllic. There were dogs frolicing and a brave person was swimming in the cold water. We went up at 9:30 a.m. and took our time enjoying everything around us. Coming back down near 11 a.m. there were crowds going up. Leaving there was a lot of competition for our parking spot. Lesson...early is nice. We appreciated the ranger who happened to be there as we went out. She provided a map and guidance on other hikes and activities to enjoy. Apparently someone had vandalized the honor system container for leaving the required parking and permit payments. A shame since wilderness areas have little money for maintenance as it is. This one is particularly nice and someone put a lot of sweat into crafting sturdy and even "stairs" on the steep areas. Glad we were able to donate. Bathrooms by the way are the typical pit toilet variety but reasonably clean.

Beautiful scenic hike overlooking Emerald Bay. The first portion of the hike is suitable for all ages. The loop is mostly stairs and is very well maintained. The falls are visible from a bridge. However, I recommend continuing up the trail to Eagle Lake. My 5 and 8 year olds were able to do this though it is much harder than the first portion. The hike to a Eagle Lake is about 45 minutes uphill past the falls but definitely worth the trip. Once we arrived at the lake, we hiked about halfway around the lake and found a lovely rock to have lunch on. We then changed into our suits and went for a swim in the crystal clear water. Though cold, I swam out to a lovely little island in the middle. The hike back down was far faster. Overall, our family of 4 was did the hike, lunch, and swim in about 3 hours. I highly recommend going in the morning on a weekend or if possible, during the week because by the time we headed back down the trail was very crowded. Overall. I would definitely do it again. Note: parking is $5. However, you can find parking on the highway which is what we did. Also, if you plan on hiking to the lake, you need a day permit which can be filled out at the trailhead.

We stopped here and hiked up to the falls. It's a fairly short hike from the parking area. It's a little bit of a climb, but not terribly strenuous; suitable for families with younger children and hikers who are no longer in top physical condition. If you do go, go as early as possible in the day. This is a very popular site and parking is limited. If you arrive too late in the day it will be difficult to park in the lot. You may have to park on the road and walk to the trailhead, in which case your walk to the trailhead could actually be longer than the hike itself.
