I have visited for an evening of wine tasting and a dinner. It is a rather bumpy ride coming there, but the spectacular sun set and night view was an excellent start of the evening. We were with a group of 16 and first had a wine tasting. In total we had to identify 6 glasses of wine, which were served in a black wine glass. First exercise was to identify whether it was a red or white wine, which believe me is much harder than it may sound. Second exercise was to identify the type of grape and the third exercise was to recognize the aroma of 6 different wines. A very social, fun and enjoyable competition with good explanations by the staff. The location itself is excellent for receiving groups with truly gorgeous views from the balcony. The dinner afterwards was very okay. All in all I can especially recommend for a group of people interested in some fun wine tasting!06/Nov/2014

This winery has great views and the wine is very good too. The views into the Bay area are stunning and I love this scenic drive. The Santa Cruz Mountains are overlooked but the wines here can be very good. My two favorites are Thomas Fogarty and Ridge on Monte Bello Mountain. The Pinot Noirs are very good but I just fell in love with the Syrah from the Santa Cruz Mountains. The late Harvest Gewutrztraminer was tasty and I had to buy a bottle for my wife. Thomas Fogarty is worth the drive but watch out for all the bikers on Skyline Drive. Best to visit on a weekday because the crowds on the weekend are large and they do a lot of weddings.

Thomas Fogarty Winery is a beautiful winery in the Santa Cruz Mountains. It has scenic views. There is both a tasting room and an event center. We have enjoyed the views and tasting wine there. We like their Cab Franc especially. Nice staff and nice drive to get there.

What a wonderful surprise. This place is worth trying just for the view. The location is a short 5 minute drive from the quaint Woodside community. Skyline Blvd is a beautiful drive and making this stop is just the icing on the cake. The winery has a great view of San Francisco area from a wooded vista location. There is a small pond out front and lovely surrounding vineyards. The tasting room is lively and comfortable. The wines are quite good and the service from staff was very friendly. They have a small outdoor patio for a picnic or just a place to soak up some sunshine while drinking a bottle of vino that you like. Tastings were about $12 to $15 with decent size pours. Give this spot a try as you travel through this pretty mountain area!

Location is gorgeous and the wines were very good. I especially enjoyed the Barbera. Two sampling menus to choose from. Staff is very friendly and informative. A beautiful drive thru the redwoods from Half Moon Bay. Definitely worth a visit.

We've had the pleasure of attending events, both a private party and a family wedding at the Forgarty winery. What a delight! The setting is a bit remote, on top of the hills above Palo Alto CA, but worth the drive. We enjoyed the beautiful grounds and buildings, but the view is not to be missed. At roughly 2000 feet above the San Francisco Bay/Silicon Valley, it is a real eye popper - day or night! Oh yeah.... and they offer sumptuous wines in the moderate price range too...

We visited the winery hoping to try wines that came ecommended. Instead we were completely disappointed. With my wife working in the wine industry and noted for her talent, she came prepared with a list of items she wanted to taste, even if we had to pay to taste special wines. Instead we got:- a staff with an attitude that seemed surprised that my wife was able to select what they considered to be their better wines. - a haughty attitude that "we just don't let people taste those wines." Ok, we get that you may not be able to pour everything, but why the attitude? There is NEVER a reason for that in hospitality, especially when the guests are trying to be engaging. - wine that really didn't deliver. None were defective and all promised to be nice based on the aromas, however they didn't follow through in the mouth. The Chardonnay was over oaked, the one Pinot they let us try had almost no fruit, and they others had holes in the sensory profiles. The location is quite lovely, but the staff needs to go to attitude school. There was no attempt to engage someone from the industry or acknowledge that we might know a thing or two. A pretty disappointing experience considering how far we drove to try their wines. Not recommended.

If you're looking for a local winery to support on a lazy afternoon, this one is a gem! The drive is a little tricky but the view on a clear day is not to be missed...especially with a great class of wine!
