Some of the nicest antique fire engines I've seen. Most were in famous movies. Guide was friendly and gave great stories and history about the museum and the equipment.
A pleasant and well informed guide explained everything we wanted to know about the Fireman's Museum! This relatively short stop for us was a perfect way to step inside off the wooded sidewalk, and meet a few other folks with similar interests as ours. This place should be on the list of everyone who can appreciate history, and the people who risk their lives to protect others.
The gentleman that was there when we visited was very nice. He knew a lot of information about the museum. He was great at talking to the kids and us about the old fire engines. It was a neat place to visit.
We really enjoyed the museum. Family friendly and free. The hose carriage and fire wagons look like new. We took awesome pictures! It's a smaller museum with lots to see. It took us 15 minutes to see it all. So glad we did. No stairs or steps.
This is a non-profit organization whose goal is to preserve old fire engines & other equipment & artifacts from Virginia City & nearby Gold Hill. Several beautifully restored fire engines & hose carriages are displayed in a fairly small room with other hose carts & paraphernalia from this time period. The docent was very knowledgeable in answering all our questions about how each apparatus worked. We thoroughly enjoyed this visit. It is free, but donations are accepted (it is a 501(c) tax exempt organization).
