This is hike on a trail into Old Growth Douglas Fir & Hemlock, some of them 400-450 years old. The trail is only open during a small window of time as it is a BLM preserve surrounded by logging roads that are locked during fire season. Contact the BLM office in Salem for directions. The trail is slippery but trees are awesome & so worth it!!! Leave no trace! Respect!!!

What Oregon would have looked like if it had not been settled. Old growth forest that will knock your socks off . Ask directions hard to find

1. Get turn-by turn directions, or you WILL get lost.2. It's a gravel road and it might be closed for fire restrictions. More than once I have been skunked by closed gates.3. Snow may be on the roads if you are going in winter/spring, so be sure you have a vehicle that can get through.

We spent the day hiking, and driving the car throguh the valley of giants. There are sign posts that tell you what you are seeing, and a nice foot bridge to cross while looking at the river down below. This was our first time visiting there.

Trip adviser Member, Mcinnville OrDate 05-24-08The Valley of the Giants is a 51 acre parcel of land containing a stand of old-growth Douglas-fir and hemlock trees, many of which are more than 20 feet in circumference and nearly 200 feet tall. Some of the largest trees are between 400 and 450 years old. The largest tree, which blew down in a windstorm in 1981, was 35 feet in circumference and more than 600 years old.In 1976, the Bureau of Land Management designated the site as an Outstanding Natural Area. The Valley of the Giants is located 30 miles west of Falls City via logging roads not suitable for passenger cars.If you are a first-time visitor, do not travel without directions. The trail loop is about 1.3 miles, beginning with a quick descent which ends at a steel bridge across the north fork of the Siletz River. Very steep and slippery trail in parts and always changing.A amazing place that if you get a chance to see it you won't regret it.
