We honeymooned in Stowe and are on our 6th visit. We always take time to enjoy some part of the Rec path during our visits. We have walked, snowshoed, cross country ski, and geocached on this trail. There is one spot with a gazebo where we have picnicked, built snow men, taken family photos, and had snowball fights. I hope we are able to enjoy this path for many years/visits to come!
The Rec Path is a great amenity to the town. Winding gently alongside the river and the Mountain Road, it provides access for walkers, joggers, and (slow) bikers. Many of the restaurants, hotels and other attractions along Mountain Road are accessible or close to the path, making it a reasonable way to travel in the area, from the upper Mountain Road all the way into the heart of the village. The path has beautiful views, gentle grades and easy access.
I rented some snowshoes and went out for about an hour. It was so gorgeous and picturesque! The trails were very nicely groomed. I would definitely go back!
The rec.path is a wonderful idea that has gotten a little out of control. Walking it could be a wonderful experience but bikers and those on roller blades have made it dangerous. You must remember to stay on the right at all times as the bikers etc move pretty fast and come around corners quickly. We have stopped walking it when in Stowe
Take a stroll into town and stop for a coffee or tea at the Black Cap Cafe. Everything is very relaxed and Stowe-like.
The sights and sounds along the rec path in Stowe provide more than just a great bike ride, it's an unparalleled experience and not to be missed.
A wonderful experience! We rode the recreation path on bikes that we rented. We started in town and rode out and back, a 11 mile bike ride total. Beautiful and scenic! It was fall and the colors were exquisite!
great rec path starts in the charming village and winds its way through woods and along pretty streams. Great place for a quiet walk, family bike ride, or for Fido to stretch his legs!
Loved the length, 5.3 miles. So nice to have this in the middle of town. Makes for a good safe walk. My husband got to enjoy some roller blading as well.
The 'rec' path is a good way to get a view of Stowe and the river close up. It runs 5+ miles so it is great for people at all abilities. There is one street crossing but otherwise there is no need to worry about kids on the streets. There is also a 'quiet' path off of the lower section for walkers and leashed pets. Take your camera the first time!
We hired somebikes to do the path from end to end. Its around 5.5 miles long end-to-end and the route takes a more scenic way along the 108. There are places to stop for a picnic along the way or restaurants if that is better. We manged the round trip in around 2 hours as the path is good and not too many hills
We had a great time wandering along the path with our family and dogs. It is a great way to get some exercise and enjoy the scenery without getting in your car.
We just got back from a wonderful stay and the Family Lodge. The view the staff the food and beverage (best beer in the state) was incredible. We can wait to visit again.
What a beautiful place even at the end of October. Rent a bike and do the complete path it is so worth it. Several places to stop and smell the fresh air. Path is wide enough to feel comfortable if other people are also there. Enjoy
Loved that we rented bikes during fall foliage. We exited off of path twice to explore the neighboring towns
