The resort does not welcome those not staying at the grand hotel. Parking was non existent during the construction, they did not permit you to drive up and drop off kids and gear. You had to park at the main lot and schlep all your gear to Spruce area on a gondola ride across the road. The "gondola attendant" watched as I struggled with skis boots poles and 2 young grandkids to board the gondola. At no point did he ever offer to either help with the equipment or help the kids load. We practically fell into the gondola. Would advise families to go to a family friendly area and avoid Stowe. Overpriced and not at all welcoming.
Very comfy lodge with a bar, a delicious food court with view on the slopes but very crowed during lunch time.
The greens are perfect and just want a new little one on skiis needs. not bad on the wait either. My first choice for a neebie.
Excellent peak for beginners on the lower lifts and aspiring intermediates on the upper mountain. Less crowded than Mansfield. Spectacular views of Mt. Mansfield.
Spruce is such a wonderful family mountain with a well run ski and snowboard school. The runs on this mountain are well maintained. The Spruce Base Camp offers great food, beverages, and live entertainment. Spruce is sure to entertain every member of your group from beginner to advanced skiers and riders. It's voted the best in the east and we feel it is a deserved honor.
Ski school is second to none here at Spruce. All levels of terrain and excellent area for beginners and intermediate skiers. All trails were open and in great shape. Food in lodge is excellent and lounge area is perfect. Storage is free which is very nice.
Great mix of green and blue slopes. Not too crowded. Nice lodge. We really enjoyed our ski trip. We will definitely be back
See my other Stowe reports. Overall the experience outside of The Stowe Mtn lodge was terrific. Spruce Peak is great. Skiers of all abilities should consider it more. The base lodge is awesome. The ski school is great, especially Instructor DJ. The food in the base lodge is also very good. Loved it and am looking forward to all the new attractions next year.
If you want a gentle beginner slope or a more advanced terrain Spruce Peak has it. Spruce has a great base camp restaurant and bar for your enjoyment. They often have live bands to entertain you while you relax between runs at peak hours. Spruce is proximal to the rental shop, the Stowe Mountain Lodge, the new Children's Adventure Center and ice rink. You can catch the Over Easy Gondola over to Mansfield for other trails and dining options.
Spruce peak is the ultimate for learning how to ski or snowboard. They take care of small groups of kids and individual. Our family are beginner snowboarders and intermediate skiers. There was a new ski lift that was really cool, and the stowe employees are sooo nice and helpful, we love talking to all of them, the evolution card is really easy to set up and use. I can't wait to use the new ice skating rink outside coming next year. The lodge is amazing the food is sooo good, the prices are outrageous but you are at a ski lodge! The bar area is great and they have great beers on tap! Can't wait to visit again!
This concert hall is relatively new, and the design accommodates all forms of live entertainment in a very comfortable setting. I have had the pleasure of attending several live music performances from classical, to Irish, to big band, and have never been disappointed at any one of them. I'm amazed at the caliber of artists who display their talents here. I probably will become a full-time patron. Go here. You will not be disappointed!
The new Hotel is just beautiful. They are in the process of putting in an ice skating rink and Activities Center. It is a very large property.I believe you can also purchase condos here. Separate for the Hotel of course.Skiing is just a walk away. Great for winter stays.Down side is that it is very pricy $300 up.If in the area check it out you will be amazed.
My wife & I last came here 17 years ago. She had a fall and tore all the ligaments in her left leg. She was brought down the mountain to the medical centre where she was treated well. It took a good 6 weeks on crutches and longer to repair. Although we have skied Europe many times we decided to come back here and complete the run we missed out on. We have met a lot of very helpful and fun people. All of you who man the lifts and give so much encouragement to all, thank you for that. It means so much. Mandy at customer services, never have we been treated so well. You took time to chat and help my wife to pick out the best suited runs and helped us through the last day. I wish some of the slopes in Europe could send their staff over to learn what giving customer satisfaction is all about. The only shame was the bartender who did not seem to enjoy his work, but maybe we caught him on his off day (twice in a row)!
We skipped the hotel breakfast and ate at Spruce Peak. To be honest there was more than enough food for 2 on the Buffet Breakfast: Eggs, Pancakes, Bacon, fruit, etc that 2 adults could share which makes the 15 charge a good deal. Service has fast and one of the best mountain cafeterias I have been to in Vermont. Great view of the Slalom run. Spacious interior. Going back when I am at Stowe.
Private lessons:Booked a private lesson for my wife and daughter. 3hrs for nearly $600. Mark was our instructor and did a great job. My wife and daughter were pleased with his help. Seemed pricey and he ended the lesson at noon (Reservation was for 9:30am). Not sure why we missed out on the last 30mins. Remains a mystery to this day. Make sure you have a watch so they don't short you on your time.Mountain:Great runs with a wide variety. If you're experienced you'll want to spend most of your time on the other side of the road. Take the gondolas. Once you get to top of the 2nd gondola go down Upper Gondolier to Lower Gondolier or cut over to Perry Merrill. Fast runs. Then take gondola back up and take Upper Perry Merrill to Cliff Trail to Nosedive. You can take that run to the bottom and take the quad back up. From there take Lord to Hayride. Head back up and take Upper Nosedive to Nosedive. Then alternate. Both of these runs and fairly steep, fast, and groomed. This will burn up your legs. On the other side there are some good runs as well for the experienced. Take Sensation Quad and try out the various runs from there.Dining (Great Room Grill): This is not your average slope side cafeteria. Food is a little on the "fancier side". My family ate here twice during our stay. It was definitely pricier than I am accustomed to but the offerings were quite expansive. Everything from regional, international, vegan, vegetarian, etc... is offered. Just dig deep in your wallet. When your done with your selections be prepared to walk around aimlessly trying to find a table. It appears the skiers have thrown manners out the window and stake out entire areas in the large eating area while someone else from their party is placing food orders. So the people that have full trays of hot food have to just stand around while their food gets cold and stalk anyone that resemble being close to completing their dining experience. I found it incredibly tacky. The staff of course does nothing to curb this behavior. We complained to someone and they just ushered us to a roped off area for people that were their from some kind of race. You have some on mountain options as well but these were closed during our trip so this was our only option. I really wanted to hit the waffle stand at the top of the gondola but never saw it open. Oh well.
