I have been to several FLW homes across the country, outside of Falling Waters this is my favorite structure. An amazing place to visit. Ill move in after the zombie apocalypse.
I visited this house almost by accident - what an awesome surprise. A true treasure and the best restoration in the US. Go out of your way to visit this - you will be happy you did.
This USONIAN Frank Lloyd Wright masterpiece was recently opened in June 2014 and must be seen! The Laurent House was built for a handicapped man who was in a wheelchair and was the only house designed in this way by Wright. The house has been lovingly restored and is in pristine condition. If you are in Northern Illinois (Rockford is about 90 miles NW of Chicago) this house is NOT to be missed. Check their website for the limited hours but this structure is a masterpiece tucked away in a beautiful neighborhood in Rockford, which itself is undergoing a rather extensive renaissance.
Not to be missed. This home was built with love and care and it is being preserved with the same spirit. Tour schedule is limited; worth the effort to plan your trip around this opportunity.
