Don't miss the opportunity to try all the variety of dates, and to enjoy a delicious date shake. The souvenirs area is really neat and clean. The staff is really nice and friendly. There's a lot of products made of dates. Worth it !
We always stop here when driving between Tucson and San Diego. It has everything a rest stop should have and more. The restrooms are always clean. There is a Quiznos if you are hungry for a sandwich. The store by the gas station has any treat you could want. The gift shop sells delicious dates among other souvenir items. Perhaps the most popular area is the ice cream/bakery corner which is known for its date shakes. My husband always gets a date cookie and I prefer the peanut butter date cookie. The also have homemade date bars. At the door by the gas station store, there is a large thermometer. In summer, it is fun to see how high the temperature is-it often is above the highest number.
If you are traveling on I-8 between Phoenix and San Diego, Dateland rest area is a good option. There is a gas station, sub and very nice ice cream plus gift shop where you can load up on a wide variety of dates. Definitely save room for the ice cream.
If you like dates, you need to stop there. They have many varieties of dates and you can try them before deciding which one you like best. They also have ice cream and shakes of exotic flavors such as cactus. Delicious.
We ALWAYS stop here on our trips to and from Phoenix. Plenty of places to park. Clean restrooms, gift shop, sandwich place, ice cream store, and a convenience store, and of course, fuel. Off the I-8, keep alert--you only have one exit to get there.
Dateland Travel Center is a good place to stop while on the road. Clean restrooms and a BIG parking lot also. Haven't tried the date shake yet but will someday. Fun place to get out of the car and stretch your legs.
Clean restrooms, a Quiznos and a shop serving date shakes and ice cream and gas islands, what else do you need. In addition they have aviation gas and racing fuel. Just don't use the north islands if you are towing a trailer or have a large rig. You will have to try and back out of them.
Yes. Love it. Every single time we go to Yuma we have to stop there. I need them! If you haven't tried it and you're nearby get one.
Can you really make a living with a road stop dedicated to dates? I guess so! We stopped in for the famous date shake and ended up buying date ice cream, several boxes of dates, date butter, date shake mix, and date sugar, not to mention a few other snacks that were not even made with dates!!They saw us coming...Also, they have a great site for your pet while you get suckered into buying all things date. And, if you travel down the road a little further you can see the date palms, but watch out if you get out of your car--the flies are intense.
Stopped there today for fuel and snacks. Owner was very rude when accidentally dropped napkin on floor after cleaning up a small spill. I feel sorry for the employees that have to work for this man.
I stopped here a few times going back and forth from Yuma and Phoenix. They got plenty of munchies and little trinkets that will have you killing time and giving you a laugh. They sell date shakes and apparently they are world famous... I didn't have one. I'm not one to risk having bubble guts on a 3-4 hour drive.. Lol but if your in the area I would stop and check out dateland!
We stop here every time we are headed to San Diego (from Tucson). The first time (in their old location), we thought we would be brave and try a date shake, so we got one to split between the four of us. Within 2 minutes, we had bought three more! SO GOOD! I always stock up on dates while they have them and I take them home to freeze and make my own (not as good as Dateland) shake at home. YUM!!!! Loved by the whole family!
I have always wanted to try a date shake from Dateland, Arizona and on our way back from Yuma we stopped at the Travel Center to get one. My husband wasn't sure he wanted one, but once he got it he was glad he did. He loved it. I also loved mine. Will have to get a bigger one next time. While there we looked around the gift shop and convenience store. There are lots of souveniers, things to eat, as well as having a Quiznos to get a sandwich. Clean bathrooms and good service. If you've never seen Date Trees, check them out right next door to the Travel Center. Dateland Travel Center is a "Must Stop" if you're traveling from California to Phoenix or Tucson. Very small town, but worth the stop.
