We stayed in the area for a month and not once were we able to book anything. We asked for during the week, or weekend repeatedly and every time there was either a cancelation or nothing going on. Is this a business or not? It seems odd and the reviews may be from family and or friends
I am an Endurance rider in Australia and was looking forward to horse riding in the Sierra Pelada and I was not disappointed. I spent two hours riding through olive groves on the side of the sierra hills, riding an Arabian mare who much preferred to run and who was I to stop her. Once we got the measure of each other we were off cantoring and galloping along well worn dirt roads on the hill side. back and forward continually until the others - Liz and my wife, caught up.Liz is a great host, telling us the history and geography of lilora, not that I heard too much as I was way along the road ahead of them, however as the view is quite spectacular, old forts to the north east, Sierra Nevada to the south, olive groves in every direction, I did stop at several points taking in the beauty of the landscape. This was a truly awesome afternoon, and to me Sierra Pelada is A+++++++++++++++++++++++Thanks Liz
We found Sierra Pelada by accident on the internet but what a wonderful find. We were staying near Zagra (about an hour away towards Seville) but there wasn't anywhere closer that offered such a range of riding for both the experienced (my daughter, 14) and novice (me, nearer 50) rider. Liz is English but has lived in Spain for over 11 years and was a fabulous teacher and guide to the area around Granada. The horses were excellent, just right for us respectively and we enjoyed our breakfast ride up through the hills with a wonderful view across the Andalusian landscape. There wasn't a better moment in our holiday - a truly great way to relax and enjoy the scenery too.Thank you Liz for everything - and especially for recommending the beach at Calahonda. Couldn't have been better.
We decided to give this place a try after looking for horse riding schools in the area (we live about 40km away)Booking and contact were great and Liz sent us a google maps link which were able to open and drive straight there without any fuss.We started by grooming the horses and getting to know them a bit and Liz gave us some advice on safety and basic riding techniques. We then suited up into our hats and protective clothing and went out into the olive groves. It was fairly sedate as we had a young child with us.We then stopped for some breakfast brought along by her son Jack who followed up with all the essentials in a land rover to our location. We had a feast of all sorts off food and then jumped back on the horses and rode back to her stables. All in all a very enjoyable morning and Liz and her team were brilliant, couldn't really fault it. Very down to earth with the emphasis on having a fun time.
